1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: BurdaStyle patterns no longer free on: July 08, 2009 01:24:16 PM
I know this topic is from a while ago, but is anyone still wiling to share the patterns they saved? Specifically Bella, Nichola and Hikaru.
I'm really sad about BurdaStyle changed their policy.  I discovered them about a year ago and finnally got around to downloading the patterns this summer only to find out they started charging.grr.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Squid Pants on: October 13, 2008 08:04:39 PM
I just got a new sewing machine for my birthday and I finally got a chance to sit down and crank out some pants. I get really disapointed about the lack of cute boys clothes, girls get frills and ruffles and sparkles and boys get nothing. So I made some embellished cut boys pants. I made my own pattern by tracing a pair of my sons pants.

I used a freezer paper stencil to put the squid on these

My SO thinks these look a little girly, honestly I don't think they are that girly. The circles are reverse appliqued.

I'll try to get some action shots in the morning, the kiddo is fast asleep, I just couldn't wait to show them off!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Please help me fix my sweater! on: October 05, 2008 04:42:37 PM
You might be able to blok it a little bigger, and if it is 100% cotton its gonna stretch when you wear it. You might also consider reknitting the neckline/shoulders and make the changes that way.

6  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Re: My first yarn!...ish...[PICTURES INCLUDED] on: September 24, 2008 06:14:20 AM
just a tip, I'm a fairly newb spinner too, I started out predrafting everything and got some fairly lumpy/uneven results, then I switched to park and draft(google it, there are some great videos out there) which isn't really ay more complicated and it makes for a more even result. You also don't have to spend hours predrafting and get to go right to the fun part, spinning!
The yarn looks really good, though, more even than my first results!

I've got my whole body together, its so exciting to see it taking shape.  I'd still be working on it if my little didn't need to get to sleep(just call me the human binky!).  I can't wait to get the head together, it would be set if I hadn't put the ears in backwards, oops! And I just realized I spaced on the tail. Tongue
