Yay!! And ya, I think I'm going to have to be team multimedia, stick with the gaming. If you have no other takers I the next week or so I would volunteer to be team captain if you need me . I'm so excited and promise to be more involved this time around, but still, off to see what I can get done on my own research project!
Yeah mama! I am thinking Team Multimedia as well. This whole thing sounds AMAZING. Doing a Research Project sounds like the perfect reason to try a Teesha Moore bag for the first time... the one you did inspired me so much
Woooo! Also thinking I will join Team Multimedia, covers video games AND movies? Yes, please. I'll try to be more active than I was this summer...my crafty productivity is way down with all of the workouts I have. I need to get it in gear so I can get some of my own things done!
Challenge/Battle/Alert: June Battle Royale - Romance Team/Ninja: Of Ships & Men Project Geekdom (if any): Disney Bonus Points: Nerdy Project Name: Paper Plane Necklace Project Page Link (if available): N/A Brief Description: Last-minute battle royale submission again! Yay! This necklace was inspired by Disney's animated short, Paperman, which is the current Oscar winner for best short film. The short depicts a man and a woman who meet on their morning commute, but go their separate ways. The man happens to notice the woman in a building across the street, and folds hundreds of paper planes to try to get her attention. It's all in black and white, except for the woman's lips and lipstick, which are red - which is why I chose a grey and red swarovski heart to go with the paper plane charm. The paper plane charm I painted the lipstick print on with red enamel. This was a pretty fast and easy project.
Pinkleo, I know we are able to do the monthly challenges anytime. But are we able to submit multiples of each month at a time? IE: turn in the textbook for both may & june ?(I know we can't do more than one for each individual challenge)
Okay, I'm a bit vague on your example, so my answer my be length...but hopefully it will be helpful.
You may turn-in challenges in any order. Meaning you can do June before May.
You can turn-in multiple challenges at anytime, but there must be one crafted piece per challenge. (No doubling up. i.e. Your May Textbook craft cannot earn June Textbook as well)
And for good measure (for anyone who may be wondering), remember that you cannot repeat a challenge. Once you have completed it, that's it.
Okay, did that help?
But you can complete both the May and the June textbook challenge (for example), as long as you turn in different projects for each challenge, correct?
PrettyPenguin, I LOVE your Jack Sparrow plushie! I was initially going to try to get a Hook plushie done for the battle but ran out of time; I'm SUPER impressed you managed to get that little fellow done in time! And so much detail too. Ahh, he's absolutely perfect!!
Yay! It means so much for you to say that SpeakGeekAndEnter! How do you get your needlefelted faces to stay on? Do you use wool for stuffing or is there some magic trick? And I would love to see a Hook plushie - with his hat! OMG that would be so cute. I still want to make accessories for Captain Jack, I just didn't have time!
Patty_o_furniture - that stamp is AWESOME! Love it!
Yeah so I'm a teeeeny tiny bit late. ^^' I hope I do this right...let me know if I need to change anything.
Challenge/Battle/Alert: May Battle Royale: Pirates vs. Ninjas Team: Of Ships and Men Project Geekdom (if any): Pirates of the Caribbean Bonus Points: Nerdy Super Bonus! This is inspired by the nerdydom Pirates of the Caribbean, which happens to be in my team scope (of Ships & Men). This is also the first human plush that I've made, and I used several new techniques, including painting on fleece, creating clothes with no pattern, and sewing the hair by using masking tape to hold it in place and sewing through it initially, and then sewing that "wig" onto the plush and styling it. Project Name: Captain Jack Sparrow Plush Project Page Link (if available): (none yet, I may get around to posting this tomorrow or Sunday) Brief Description: This is unashamedly inspired by speakgeekandenter's amazing plushies! This has been on my "50 crafts in 2013" list since the beginning of the year (along with some others). The pattern is the Baby London Star tutorial. I used fleece for the body and various cottons for the clothes. The hair is some yarn I picked up at Michaels specifically for Jack. I didn't sew it on one strand at a time, but sewed all of the strands in a row to masking tape (which I then pulled off) and then sewing that "wig" to the head. I painted the face on using acrylics mixed with fabric medium.
Who has glitter paint, freezer paper, and a black tee at the ready...ME!!!
That's right, last minute battle entry will be posted!!!! Stencil is cut; just need to iron-on and paint.
YAY!!!! New tee for me!!!
YAY for last minute crafting! And new tees!
I am trying to finish up my battle entry tonight...in time. We will see. Even if I don't get it done, I'm thrilled with it so far and it was on my list of things to make this year, so I'm happy. I'd just really like to post it in time!
Quick question - what time zone does the craftalong go with? As in, if I turn my project in at 11:59 EDT (not that I would EVER do that -ahem-) is that considered within the month?
I finally found peach fleece yesterday (why is that so hard to find?) so now I can get started on my pirates v. ninja challenge. Thank goodness this weekend is a long one, I have to get moving on this! I actually have two ideas that would work for this, and both were already on my to-craft list, so I really want to get at least one made now!
