Zoey as Supergirl.  She's only 2 1/2, but she got a pretty good haul of candy this year!  The costume is 100% made by momma, even the emblem!

I couldn't find many superhero costume patterns ... I'm assuming Marvel and DC are stingy with their trademarks!  I used the Simplicity Costume Pattern 4040, Child and Girl Cheerleading, with red and blue flannel.  The emblem is red and yellow costume satin, backed with iron-on adhesive.  I used my Cricut to cut out a Superman SVG (http://mytimetocraft.com/2009/05/15/superman-svg/).

The cape is basically a conic section of more red flannel, attached to her collar with some hooks/eyes.

Zoey has a baby sister due next spring ... we might get one more run out of this costume!  Thanks for looking

This is the Halloween costume that I made for my daughter Zoey.  She is dressed as Aang, from the Nickelodeon cartoon Avatar: the Last Airbender.



The base of the costume was made using Simplicity pattern #2734, basic toddler pajamas.  I made up the rest.

2-tone 100% cotton shirt, pants, and capelet.  After making the shirt we realized her head was too big to fit through the hole (this is not stretchy material).  I put a slit in the front and added a ribbon tie.  THEN we realized it was difficult to get her arms into the sleeves ... again, because this wasn't stretchy.  I split up the back and added a zipper.  After that it was super easy to get her in and out.  



Her daddy was dressed as Prince Zuko and I was Katara.  



Daddy made her awesome glider!

I made a "Little Big Planet" (PS3 video game) themed cake for my husband's birthday.  This is a 2 tiered cake.  The bottom tier is 10" round pound cake filled with buttercream and covered with fondant.  The top tier is a 6" round from a french vanilla box cake mix filled with cream cheese tub frosting and is covered with buttercream.  There are fondant accents all around that resemble level objects.  The ivory sackboy waving at you is also modeled out of fondant.  The "bubbles" are Christmas decorations.  Fondant stars are springing out of the top with floral 20 gauge wire.

Back in April, my two cousins and I were all pregnant (all of us had our beautiful baby girls in May)!  That had me really motivated to make some really crafty and unique baby shower gifts for them.  I wanted to do something more than just a diaper cake; so I tried to think of some else along those lines ... something that looked like one thing but was composed of useful mom gifts.  May I present: laundry basket bassinets!!!  These are laundry baskets decorated to look like baby bassinets and are filled with other baby shower gifts:







I made 2 versions: one with a rounded canopy and another with a draped canopy.  Haha, don't forget, these are for holding baby shower gifts, not babies.

Dreamcatchers are super easy to make.  I thought a baby-themed dreamcatcher would be such a unique and adorable baby shower gift for the mother and baby to be.  The basic dreamcatcher components as well as the baby favor trinkets were reasonably inexpensive!  I used Wilton baby favors: baby feet charms, baby onesie charms, mini clothes pins, and mini baby bottles.  There are several easy to follow dreamcatcher tutorials online.  After making a basic dreamcatcher, I wrapped the ring with satin ribbon and fixed the little charms to the webbing.
