11  Cherry Blossom Shell Pendant Necklace and Earring Set (Image Heavy!) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by papa justify on: December 20, 2009 09:54:15 PM
I am so incredibly pleased with how this future Christmas gift turned out!
I used garnet seed beads for the length of the wire and tried to accentuate the colors in the pendant with the surrounding beads.

Critiques welcome!
(Sorry for the picture haziness, the flash washed out the beads...)

13  Reconstructed Jewelry Plates! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by papa justify on: December 09, 2009 09:33:58 AM

I am so pleased with how these turned out!

I made jewelry plates as the main gift for Christmas presents this year. I've been thrift store shopping for unique glassware for a month or so and actually got a box of dishes off freecycle for this purpose.

Using unique glasses like pilsner glasses, brandy snifters, and wine glasses makes each one special. I bought votive candle holders or small cups for the top plate so they can serve as ring holders.

I used E6000 glue around the rims of the glasses to secure them. They are melded together now! It was really important to not use too much glue thought because my first ones had the glass bottoms slide overnight because they were on too thick of a pool of glue. I also did them one tier at a time to help with that as well.

On this one, I let the glue drip into thin strings and then crossed them in the bowl of the wine glass. It makes something that looks like the sugar bird nest type food creations. I like the look it gave it.

This one is particularly pretty. The white and light exposure washed out the image, sorry!

Thanks for looking!

14  Crocheted Christmas Tree Ball Ornaments in Winter Holidays by papa justify on: December 09, 2009 09:20:52 AM

I made these using a technique my best friend taught me when she organized and I participated in the Coraline swap. For doll heads and round balls like this, aluminum foil covered with Sculpey clay that is baked becomes an ornament like this! I bought galvanized wire for the loops and wrapped the foil around those loops before I put clay over it. They're fairly heavy and pretty sturdy ornaments!
For the outside, I began with a crocheted round and increased for the allowance of the bottom of the ball and then just crocheted in the round until I reached the top then decreased and bound it off when it reached itself completely.

Here are some close-ups!

This one was a wool bought in Florida by the same friend. I made hers out of that!

Eyelash yarns were my favorite with these!

Homespun yarns do well, too!

Thanks for looking!

Ha, ha!

When I used the picture hosting last night, I had to add photos two by two because they are 500x375 so I ended up skipping a group of two, a close-up of the embroidered chupacabra and the green Nessie she made!

It looks so peaceful!

Totally going in my car. It really looks like it's been caught doing something!

Sorry for skipping these, amydice!

Oh, and the chupacabra head - my best friend taught me a clay doll head making technique, it's an aluminum foil ball with Sculpey clay around it for the head and more for the snout. Then, you can glue stick on the fur and it's a head! I liked that when I cut right on the bias of where the fabric met it made lines that look almost like skull bone fragment lines.

I think I love that head the best! It looks oh so crazy...

Sorry if the tribbles fluff off fur everywhere!

How could I forget?

When I woke up the other morning, Major Tom ended up being in the covers just like this, so I reenacted it here:

I received from amydice on Tuesday! I didn't get to post because of what I had due for school and generally, I wanted to be able to post a response that did it justice. School, life, whathaveyou has been pretty tough in general lately but when I got this on Tuesday it almost made me cry. Definitely one of the best packages I've received and it all was so well made and just cheery. She made me so happy! Thank you, amydice!!!

To begin:

The Yeti from RoxyCraft!!! I love, love, love RoxyCraft and when I read the cards she included I yelped with excitement. This Yeti is so well done and it makes me ecstatic with glee! It's so funny, when you get things like this, or at least I forget I own things until I've had them a while. I left after I opened it, returned from class, and literally said "Hey Yeti! I forgot about you! What's up?!" When I first opened I carried it like a baby and despite being one of those people that sleeps with stuffed animals.......I totally may have curled up with it the last few nights. So adorable I can't stand it!

Close-up! Look at that stitching!

I liked to flip his Yeti cuff up and then he looks like an astronaut. So, I've named him Major Tom, like in that Bowie song. Meet, Major Tom, the Yeti.

She also sent a hand embroidered Chupacabra fetus tote! Ahh!

The back!

The Sasquatch folder! The folder says "Sasquatch, leave nothing but tracks" So cute!

She sent a TON of shrinky dink cryptid magnets!

I think the blue one looks like the Yeti off the Scooby Doo series!

I loved everything I got and it was so awesome!
Incredible work! Thank you!!!!

I received today and it was INCREDIBLE!!!  Grin

This bag is so AWESOME! I immediate wore everything I could in the package. She wanted to send me something related Coraline's Dad and got on eBay to find a Michigan State sweatshirt. I told everyone all day what the bag meant. I also got really excited, kind of nostalgic because I realized my Dad had a sweatshirt we all keep of his. That made me happy!

The inside is lined with pockets and her own tag! The velcro is awesome and it is SO well made!

The bag also had a flower (because he was awesome at gardening!) and the center was a Coraline pin! Sorry the flash blurred that out!

The shirt, all bundled up and cute! Great, great painting on this one!!!

carrieme's beautiful card and the pumpkin pincushion she sent (I was making her one, too, so it was extra funny!) The heads on the pins are cute, too!

She made me a circus mouse! It came in an animal crackers box with gray, rubber mice and it was adorable!!!

Mouse close-up! Sorry I can't figure out how to turn in on the picture hosting.

Coraline shirt close-up! I love it! The size was perfect, too, and I love the button detail. Yay!

Action shot!

Thank you so, so much carrieme!!! I love each it all so much! Ahh!!!

20  Re: Can't Wait For Supernatural Season 5 Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by papa justify on: September 02, 2009 11:11:41 AM
YAY!!!
I'm so glad!!!

And, my super awesome package from Pupper! My first swap ever and I LOVE all of it so much!!!
I really wasn't thinking I'd get it so soon, I have more and more faith in the postal system everyday! Smiley

A group shot! I forgot to include the awesome note, I need to take a picture later...it had a panda on the front and little did Pupper know my little sister is bananas over pandas so it made me smile thinking about her!

I've now got matted art of the "Lollipop diseased" bear from "Wishful Thinking," Supernatural stationary (I love to write letters home from college so, WIN WIN WIN!), good omen bags, hex bags, and A METALICAR!!!

Close-up of my bath salt hex bags and stationary! The bags have tags saying, "hex bag against a bad day, against swap anxiety, against flakers, against the cancellation of Supernatural, and one saying hex bag against mean postal workers." The last one makes me laugh so hard because I could have stabbed that woman at the post! The stationary has cool fences and little graveyard punches on the ends. I can't wait to send my Mom a letter!

My bear!!! I can't wait to hang this in my apartment! I think the shotgun is my favorite part and since Pupper sent the mat I'm set for framing!!!

I think these good omen bags are some of my favorite things! So awesome!!!

The one on the left is an omen for good luck and inside was a real four-leaf clover, the one in the middle was a good omen for calmness and I think I'm mesmerized like a magpie by the stones, and the last bag was a good omen for well being and it had a "Slow Down Kit" in it! It had three vials of fragrances. Yay!!!

And...my Metalicar!!!

With the hood and trunk open, I can store to my heart's content. I love the taillights at the end! I bet this took forever and I love it!!! Ahh!!!

And, the action shot of the Sam and Dean Metalicar taking over my pillows...

This was such a great first time! Yay!!!

...I'm totally going to sleep curled up next to that car!
