2  COOKING / Dessert / Meet the Muppets! on: August 19, 2011 04:10:29 AM
Tomorrow is my mother's birthday and I wanted to make her something special as we no longer live close.  So I made her a virtual cake.  I mean it's real, it's vanilla bean sponge with chocolate ganache filling, covered in fondant but since we live 1000 miles apart she only gets to see it online.  Best of all cakes, calorie free!

I also wanted to try my hand again at character models using gumpaste and since the new Muppets movie is coming out (can't wait) I thought I'd mix the two together!

So this is for my mum, who loves the two old crumudgeon's in the box Smiley

3  COOKING / Dessert / Phineas & Ferb Across the 2nd Dimension on: August 09, 2011 08:43:33 AM
Phineas and Ferb is a fan favourite in our house, so with the release of their new movie, I decided to make cookies in their honour!

I made several of the characters and used icing transfers onto the cookies since I'm not a great freehand drawer.

4  COOKING / Dessert / Rainbows and Unicorns - my daughter's bday cake on: August 02, 2011 06:20:25 PM
My daughter changes her mind every other minute, i mean she is 6 after all!  So after all the different ideas bantered about she decided on a unicorn cake.  EEK!

I wanted to do a rainbow cake, so we compromised on both!

The entire cake is edible!

I hope you like it.

The colours really pop!!

5  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / First Applique quilt a la Don't Look Know on: July 17, 2011 09:55:11 AM
Hi there

My friend just had a baby girl so I made an applique quilt using Kellie's rough applique technique from Don't Look Know http://dontlooknow.typepad.com/.

This was a lot of fun but took a bit longer but turned out great!

You can see more pics on my blog at http://www.trilogyedibles.com

6  COOKING / Dessert / Peonies and Roses Wedding Cake on: May 02, 2011 11:18:59 AM
My best friend is getting married next week in Mexico and I can't be there due to circumstances.  So I mocked up their wedding cake, that I was suppose to make.  Check out the full story at my blog http://bit.ly/jW0YKJ

I'm pretty please with how my flowers turned out, it was my first time attempting peonies!

7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / One-Block-Wonder in Red, White and Black on: April 20, 2011 07:35:55 PM
I finally finished my one-block-wonder quilt.  I chose a funky poppy fabric and turned it into this really cool quilt.  I had seen these on the web and thought that was the neatest thing I'd seen in a while, so I thought I'd give it a try.  Check out my blog http://www.trilogyedibles.com/2011/04/black-red-and-whitea-tale-of-two-quilts.html for the full story! and to win the quilt!

8  COOKING / Dessert / Harry Potter and Star Wars Cookies on: April 17, 2011 01:13:41 PM
My nephew is turning 5 this week and since we can't be there to celebrate with him, I decided to make his two favourite things (right now) into cookies.  Harry Potter and Star Wars.  I piped the characters onto parchment first and then put them on the cookies as decals.  I'm not great at drawing and I don't have the fancy copycake machine, so this was the easiest way I could think to make them look good.  I had a few break, so there is a tradeoff.

I can't wait to send them up, I hope he loves them as much as I had fun making them.

Comments and queries always welcome!
9  COOKING / Dessert / Hello Kitty Cake Pops! on: April 07, 2011 10:14:45 AM
I started a weekly treat day on Wednesdays.  First week was sugar cookies but this past week I attempted the new fad treat, the cake pop.

I still have a lot to learn but they turned out great and my girls loved them.  Our next door neighbour also thought they were pretty good too!  Check out my full story on my blog www.trilogyedibles.com

10  COOKING / Dessert / St. Patty's Day Cookies on: March 15, 2011 02:10:04 PM
Today I decided to bake and decorate St. Patty's day cookies for my daughter's schools. I'm just trying to drum up business for my fledgling cake and cookie decorating home business.
