I'm glad you liked the kitties! I also received today from you, Tamalama, and very cool toco toucan card:

The toucan pops up a bit from the card, like he's perching in this jungle paradise.

Thanks so much!

Wow, what a wonderful gallery! So many awesome cards, but I think my faves so far are Professor Trelawney by M&C and the zombie cupcake by gozer! So cool!

I received today from Jillybeans, she sent me a beautiful watercolor card for my Toucans theme Smiley

I love it, thank you, Jill! And thanks for the extra bits of paper, too Cheesy

That package is amazing! Love the peacock of course!! And the insane detail on the dead-of-the-dead skull notebook cover!! Any chance for more close-ups on that?

Here's a closer shot! Amazing, eh?

I received an INCREDIBLE package from onegroovyday this morning! I thought it would arrive yesterday and that the mailman bungled it, and was terrified that something would go wrong (anxiety!), but alas. Package from OGD arrived safe and sound and filled with magic and I love it.

This beautiful quilted tote with a mosaic fish. I adore the colors and this is exactly what I needed Smiley

Behold the quilting on the back. It's a little hard to see, but it's an underwater scene with seaweed and fish and everything. So awesome!

I was so excited to dig into my package that I didn't get a shot of everything all wrapped up, but OGD wrapped items in these lovely fabrics Smiley I adore all of them! My favorite is the light green with the tropical birds with long tails! Can't wait to make something out of it. Also, the dia de los muertos fabric matches a purse I got from Lani a while ago, I use it everyday, so I can make something to match! Perfect!

A beautifully stitched tiny house felt badge, and a lovely necklace that says "dream" and a tiny felt bird! True story, i was gushing about my package to Mr Nooo and said "Look at this tiny felt bird she made!" and he grabbed the little bird and popped the whole thing in his mouth, I almost died! What a turd. The bird was unscathed, Mr. Nooo thought he was hilarious and I grumped at him for a few minutes. cheeky.

And THIS. A journal cover with refills. I can't begin to tell you guys how incredible this is. The stitching is so tiny and out of this world. #1. Seriously, so good.

Here is a close-up. There are little birdies, fish, feathers, even a tiny sloth! So FANTASTIC.

A perfectly done mug rug! I really really love this, too! I thing it may have to be a wall hanging!

And last, but not least, an OGD recycled sweater peacock!!! I have loved this since I first laid eyes on it Smiley Now I have one of my very own!

Thank you SOOO MUCH, Mindy! I really LOVE everything. Such a great swap Smiley

I left for a week and came back to such eye candy in the gallery! SO MANY AWESOME. My squee at Jilly's Dr. Horrible badge was particularly loud, however.

I had two absolutely incredible and gorgeous and perfect badges from PerfectlyBohemian waiting for me. I am in AWE of these badges. Feast-so-much your eyes on these badboys:

Mexican Folk-Art inspired owl. I love owls! It's funny how we both chose to send each other owls Cheesy Because they rock. I feel that my wee simple owl in no way measures up to this beautiful detail! I adore this. So. Much.

And this beautiful needle-felted toucan!!! How gorgeous, right? Jealous? Smiley I am going to make this into a brooch, so I can show it off all over the place! This is very special to me, and I'm so glad she chose to make a toucan. They're kind of a symbol of hope to me, so very very special.

A group shot with the lovely card, also wonderful Smiley

Thank you SOOOOO MUCH, PerfectlyBohemian!!! I absolutely love.

17  Toucan Sculpture! in Completed Projects by noooitaremybirthday on: May 31, 2012 11:38:31 AM

I wasn't so sure this belonged in the poly clay section, because it's technically air-dry clay, and it has inchies on it... and other stuff... So BEHOLD, I'm putting it in the misc topics Smiley I made this toco toucan sculpture because it's my dream/10 year goal to have this kind of toucan someday. It's wild, it's crazy, but I need an outlandish goal to keep my head up lately.

I first made a rough form of the beak and body as two separate pieces out of aluminum foil to save some clay and to keep it from being too heavy and slow-drying. I attached the two pieces with stabbed in toothpicks and tacky glue.

Then I covered the outside with a layer of air-dry clay (I used premier brand, it comes in a red/white package) and I tried to make it as smooth as possible... The outside can be sanded when it's dry, but the less sanding the better (and easier!) I say. This picture is before I did any sanding, so it's a wee bit lumpy.

And then I used artists acrylics to paint the toucannish colors Smiley I also added a tail, which is made out of thick canvas fabric painted/stiffened with acrylic paint.

The base is a scrap of 2x4 that I had randomly laying around in my craft room. I painted it with craft acrylics and added this quote: "Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is still dark."

And then the edges are decorated with inchies of toucan doodles on pieces of vintage children's book page.

I got the mini straw hat at hobby lobby a while ago in a pack of 5, I think, very cheap. Embellished that with a pheasant feather and novelty yarns. AND, if you look close, there is blue glitter glue around the eyes which are round, flat hematite beads Smiley Nothing is quite complete without a little glitter, right? Thank you for looking!

I received from Jillybeans and WOWEEEEE! So totally awesome!

It's a TREEEEE! So creative, I love it. And I love the colors Smiley Is the moss fresh? It still feels springy. You weren't lying, Jilly, this is wicked awesome.

And the innards have to do with my other themes. Red Riding Hood's cloak, an owl, a wolf, and Snow White's poison apple Smiley

Thank you so much, Jilly!

That zombie bulldog is pretty cool! Awesome combo of themes. And the bumblebee is too cute!

I received an AMAZING badge from Bobomom today Cheesy I love it. I was very excited to craft for bobomom, because of our mutual love of Stitch, so you can imagine my delight when this perfect badge came in the mail:

The stitching (no pun intended) is so tiny and perfect. It goes perfectly on my cork board with all my little stitch pins Smiley

Thank you bobomom! Love it!

This might be a silly question, but how does one needle felt pieces together? (This is a craft I have not played with)
You need a needle felting tool, which is pretty much just a barbed needle...Then you stab it like crazy over something like a piece of foam or firm sponge. The fibers co-mingle and kind of fuse together Smiley Pretty fun!

OH and I received my package from OGD today, and GET READY FOR SOME AWESOME!

An amazing and beautifully detailed cheshire cat Smiley I wish you all could feel the texture on this... Feels so dang high-quality...Because it is...

And this totally awesome, totally perfect for me little birdie. The beads are such a beautiful touch, and the long leg is seriously SO cool. There is even metallic thread used on the crown.

I really really love them both, OGD! Thank you for being my partner! Can't wait til IYP Smiley
