I made this for a friend's magazine, and I'm so tired now! But anyway! This is 100% paper and 100% awesome and. Also. I love it.

http://www.4colorrebellion.com/archives/2010/05/05/cory-schmitzs-exp/ if you're curious about the magazine, read that. It might be useful. If you remember the katamri thing I posted a while ago, it was for his first magazine Cheesy

My kitty likes it.

I am 100% impressed with the lettering. I'm so bad at cutting straight lines haha.

your work is absolutely amazing! i love paper cutting, and the way you use layers and shadows is awesome, to say the least. I'm looking to buy the hardcover version of your book on lulu, but is that an original, or is it print versions of all the pages?

It's just print versions. Unfortunately I had to make it so expensive to make some kind of profit it on it, not to mention I spent probably 200-300 just buying the colored paper to make the darn thing @_@

I want to give this a try! Do you think lime juice would do the same thing as lemon? I don't see why not, but eh, thought I would ask. We have lime juice for making buttermilk, but no lemon!

Ugh, I just lost a bet with my sister!  She swore either octopi or squid only had one eye, and I told her I didn't need her franken-opinions Wink

So awesome paper craft, but boooo losing a bet with my jerk little sister Cheesy

I thought all cephalopods had two eyes? Don't they? sdofhisduhffffff

OMG! Freaking awesome!

Was the design based on anything? The corckscrew gave me a giggle.

Nope, this wasn't based on anything. He just wriggled his way out of my brain place Smiley

The ship in a bottle's natural enemy: the kraken with a corkscrew.

100% paper 100% awesome.

I will try to remember to take some detail shots later. Right now I think I need to watch Futurama with my fella.

How did you do the foot prints?

The first layer of paper was just a plain white, and over that I did cuts of gray and blue footprints. You can see the pattern the lacy paper has on the tree, it's crosshatched white stuff with lots of holes, so it's semi-transparent. I put tha tover the top of the footprints/crane blood, and theeeeere you go! I need to consider this stuff more in the future... I wish I knew what it was called.
