I have always admired the older type baby cribs, the ones that hung from a frame, and swung. Well I was talking to my upstairs neighbor, and she mentioned how her husband (who recently passed) was such a pack rat, and she was gonna be getting rid of a bunch of stuff. Well, I couldnt help but mention a crib JUST like the kind I admire so that I noticed in the storage building we share. She quickly agreed to let me have it!! I am SOOO EXCITED!! Even though we do not plan on having kids, I am really excited to get to work, although, I'm not real sure what I want to do to it yet, but I wanted to share about it with people who may get excited with/for me....... the Fiancee just sees it as our problem now! BUT I'M OVERJOYED TO HAVE IT!! Since my camera sucks the life out of batteries worse than a vampire, I dont have a picture of the crib its self, BUT I did find one online. My crib is the same as the one in the picture structure wise, but in a darker wook color. I just have to find hooks to go at the top of the holder thingy!!
I'm not sure if this is the right spot for this, if its not could someone move it for me.... THANKS!!
I have been wanting to do some paper mache, but I'm not very familiar with it. I know the concept, and general idea of it, but am fuzzy on the details, and actual materials, and steps needed to be taken. What I am wanting to make is a life size Italian Greyhound as the prize for the photo contest that we have monthly on my Iggy forum. Also, is there a certain type of paint best used for paper mache? Thanks for reading, and many thanks to any replies.
I started this project lastnight, as of right now I have 43 'flowers', but only about 28 actually have 'stems'. For this I am using multi colored card stock. I had found one of those 1lb bags for $2, so I picked it up, it is actually working very well for this, and plan on getting beautiful paper, and making my own flowers for my wedding! I am very happy with the way they are turning out, I'll post pictures soon. For the center of the 'flower'(or piston) I had gotten the idea to use beads, and it looks soo cool!!
Okay, so I was on my way home from work and saw these windows leaning against a house... I just had to stop and ask about them..... of course they didnt want that 'trash' so I took ALL OF THEM, even the broken one! There are a total of 28 windows. I have a slight idea of what I would like to do with them, but it wont take nearly 28 of them! I was thinking of using those corners used for scrapbooking, to hold pictures on the glass.... their name escapes me! Put the photos on the front side of the glass, and do some kind of treatment, frosting, paint, colored paper, to the back, and paint the panes different colors, this way I wont have to paint my rented walls, but can cover them up with these great windows!! Any additional ideas would be awesome!! Thanks!
Here are a few pictures of my most recent projects. They are nothing big and impressive, mostly just things in my craft area... that is still not finished yet!! I hope you like them.... and comments welcome.
My curtains in my craft area werent long enough, I have 2 windows, and decided to do them each differently. my favorite one..
and the other.. (I think I might take this one apart, and make it match the other one)
I found the little picket fence part at the Goodwill, painted it white, added the flowers, and painted grass, and ladybugs on it.....
Part of my mothers day gift for my mom. They came black, and I added pink ribbon, and the buttons.
I got a new laptop for my birthday, and quickly got bored with the plain look of it. I had an envelope full of diamonds I cut out of mags for whatever may have crossed my mind for them... the bird because he is the same color as the diamonds!
And 2 christmases ago my mother got me my sewing machine, and one of them white, boring, plain carriers.... I decided to make it mine! The sides....
This is a picture I took of our kitchen as I was cleaning it before we moved in. I like a lot of cabinet space, but this is a little over doing it!! I would have to litterally climb on the counters to get to the top row of cabinets, but I dont us 'em. Any suggestion on what I could do with this? I am going to go with reds, yellows, and oranges for the kitchen. My inspiration are these great sheer orange curtians I found at walmart. I was thinking I could remove the doors on the top row and use it to display something, but I dont really have anything cool enough to display, and I dont collect anything. AND I rent, so I cant really do a whole lot...... I havent even asked if I can paint yet!!
I have read a couple post here, and on instructables about cardboard furniture. My fiance and myself was surfing the web looking at dressers and similar type of clothing storage for our room. We came across this GREAT looking dresser type deal, that was hundreds of dollars.... I just knew I could make it, or atleast try. So here is my attempt at cardboard furniture. I am very proud of it, and it is very sturdy. I work at walmart, and the manager let me have some ov the BIG signing they put up at each door, so I have a bunch left, I'm gonna make some great bed side tables too!!
As you can see I'm not totally finished, I have to finish up the bottom drawer, and paint. I was even thinking I could make a paper mache paste, and slap some on there to hade the egdes of the tape, and give it a cool look to it.
Suggestions, and comment are welcomed. Thanks for looking.
For the past hour and a half, I have been tinkering with trying to make this stencil with GIMP2. I got it to a point where it is starting to look like it could be a good stencil, but is still far to complex for my beginner status. This is a picture of my late Grandmother when she was about 19yrs old. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be able to get a stencil from this picture. And I would be greatly appreciative of anyone who could help me with this.
