11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / "Home is where the Air Force sends us" needle work on: March 08, 2012 01:21:43 PM
I have been wanting to do something like this for some time now, and have finally sat down to get it done.
I am not totally done with these yet.  I want to paint the frames.  I was thinking black to keep them simple
and they would still match my crazy colorful decor with out adding to the craziness.

What I did was pick out some matching scrapbook paper from my stash... traced the outline on each of them,
I used my needle to poke holes in the paper evenly and then stitched them in.  I even put little hearts over the
area where we live/will live.  I'm happy with how they turned out.  I can't wait to paint the frames and get them
hung up.

There is some detail in the paper on the Nebraska one that is hard to see in the photo, but it's nice.
12  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Trying to get into painting. on: March 02, 2012 08:25:29 AM
I'm trying to get into painting... but I haven't really done a whole lot of it in the past, and I sometimes
have a hard time envisioning what I want to produce.... I guess my imagination sucks.  I did a painting
for a friend.  She wanted a fish.  I thought and thought about how I was going to approach it, but had
no idea.  So I did a Google search for some inspiration.  I found it, and it turned out really cool.  But to
me it seemed like the artist that really stood out to me had a lot of influence on the work.  I know that
is OK, and I didn't forge any of his pieces, but I would really like to find my own style, and look for my
own work.

It is slightly frustrating to me because I do not want to feel like I am taking too much style/look from the
pieces I see online/anywhere else.  Is there anything I can do to try and find my own satyle with out feeling
like I am taking someone elses?
13  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Need ideas and suggestions for scarves. on: March 02, 2012 08:08:22 AM
I have about 10+ scarves. Ya know, the thin ones you wear to look cute, not so much to keep warm.
They are all sorts of colors.  Most of them are white with colored patterns on the ends, with tassels.
I'm not a big scarf person.  I bought them because they were real cheap....   Cheesy  Anyways... I have
had them for a long time, and they are just taking up space.  Any ideas on what I could do with them?
If I can't think of anything for them I am going to try and sell them I guess.

Thanks in advance.
14  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Moving.... on: March 01, 2012 12:19:19 PM
My husband is in the AF, and we will be moving this summer.  In my research into the housing we
have access to.... they are considerably bigger than what we have now.  I have plenty of furniture,
and a lot of it is big and bulky anyways... here is our place now--- > http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=395712.0
I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for going from a smallish duplex like we have now... to
a possible 2 story, 3 bedroom HOUSE!

I told DH I may want to get more stuff to make things balanced... but I might enjoy the open space
we may have as well.  Any ideas on balancing in a bigger home with out adding a bunch of bulk to my
already eclectic home?
15  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Snood pattern for small dog.... anyone? on: February 23, 2012 04:55:31 PM
This summer my Military husband, myself, and our two Italian Greyhounds will be moving from
the West Coast to Nebraska.  This winter they will need more jammies, boots, snoods, etc.  I
would LOVE to be able to make their coats, and snoods.  Does anyone know of a pattern I could
follow?  THANKS!
16  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Fish painting (better picture added) on: February 21, 2012 12:39:39 PM
My friend who moved away a while back, but comes to visit her hubby every once in a while asked me to paint
her something to have to remember me, and the area.  She wasn't very specific on what she wanted, or even
the color or style of the end product.  So I finally asked her to give me a couple ideas.  She mentioned tropical
fish and a lighthouse.  I have never done a landscape before, so I went with the fish.  At first I struggled with
how to go about the shape, color, and overall look of the fish.  So I did a couple Google searches for inspiration,
and this is what I came up with.  Sorry about the crappy cell phone picture quality.  :\

Crappy cell phone picture---

Awesome, bright, WAY closer to real life, taken with an actual camera in natural light picture!

I usually do not paint like this.... I'm usually redoing furniture, or other more 'craft' type things.  I had fun with this though.
17  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Fat chef art for my brother. on: January 15, 2012 12:18:11 PM
This is my first post on this board!!

My brother wants to do his kitchen with the Fat Chef decor, and being young and broke he is slowly
building up his collection.  Well his birthday is this month and I decided to make him this small painting
for his kitchen.  It is only about 5 inches tall because I live 2,500 miles away, and I was not sure of
the condition a larger one would make it to him through the shipping process.  I am coupling this small
painting with a fat chef spoon rest.

C&C Welcome

18  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Harry Potter wands on: December 12, 2011 01:19:20 PM
I had no idea where to put these..  :\
My sisters kids LOVE Harry Potter, as do I.  My sister told me how all 3 of them run around with paint
brushes as wands, casting spells on each other.  So I searched for a tute on how I can make them a
'real' wand all of their own.

I found this-- http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-an-awesome-Harry-Potter-wand-from-a-sheet-of-/

This is what I came up with from the tute.

19  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Star-burst mirror on: November 30, 2011 03:18:00 PM
This year is a handmade xmas.  We live in California, and are going home to Kentucky to have the Holiday
with family.  And after spending a bajillion dollars on our trip it had to be.  Any who, my oldest niece will be
turning 10 on Dec 23.  So I added a couple handmade gifts to her haul.  At 10 years old I wish I had this! lol
Anyways, my sister said her room will be done in purple and yellow, so I painted to match of course.

I used a bunch of those cheap wooden chop sticks.  I did not break them apart because they are super cheap
and didn't break apart evenly.  :\  But I think it turned out really well.  I am proud of it.  I plan one for my place
soon!

20  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Welcome to my home, come on in! on: November 18, 2011 08:13:55 AM
Welcome to my home.  I am proud of everything so far.  Though I am not done of course.  I am planning some
art for the walls in the living room, and painting a few more things, then I will be a bit more happy with it as a
whole.  But so far so good.  Ohh, and this is the first time I have really hung up anything on the walls for display!

This is right inside the front door.  The name on the board says Fraley but the L is yellow as well as the back
ground and does not show up well in this picture.  The shelf is also in the entry way.  I wish I could get him to
always put his boots under it! lol

Straight ahead from the front door is the girls room.  I found that orange curtain digging through my fabric and
decided it would be perfect in their door way.  And by girls, I mean dogs.  It was meant to be for storage, but
it is the perfect size for my girlies to have a safe place to stay when we are out of the house.

And yes, they have custom art work! <3  They love it!

Overall view of the living room, and in the right corner that is obstructed by the door that is always left open to
the girls room.  That is Jettas favorite chair I think.

Gracies favorite spot when the sun is not beating down in the living room window, and my awesome $5 GW chair!

Computer area (where T is figuring out our Xmas road trip so he can turn in his forms for leave.  They want to
know exactly where we will be stopping along the way, and everything.  it took him a while) And the big chair
and girls bed where they sun.

My free rocking chair and start of my tray collection.  I love that chair but I hardly ever use it.

Over all view of the kitchen.  And all the chairs I have redone up to date.  I have 1 more that will be at the table.
It is partially sanded and waiting patiently for me to finish and paint.  It will be bright yellow.  I am thinking about
getting/making black seat cushions for all of them.  The green chair is usable but obviously not finished.

It's washed out a bit, but it is bright bright red

Wooden butterfly I painted that hangs from the chandelier and more of my tray collection.  Also the shelf that displays
some of my cool stuff.

My free (saved from the trash) microwave table that I was so happy my hubby picked up for me.  And on our anniversary no less! <3
And my vintage TV trays I got at GW for less than $10!!  I was so excited!

This stuff is pretty explanatory, I will save you from the view of dirty dishes, lol.

This guy I got at the GW for $2 lives near the window in front of the sink.

Fridge... excuse the black dot in the center.  I didn't realize till I was re-sizing the photos that the name and address of my SS recipient
on another board was out in the open for everyone to see!

The hallway with the awesomeness of glow in the dark stars. DH actually used these exact stars to propose!

Bathroom with my wonderful shower curtain and custom art work.  I also LOVE my rugs!

Craft room.  My table hardly eve stays so clean! lol

Scrapbook paper and more trays I need to attach hooks to so I can hang.  And I bought 5 more (xmas ones) yesterday for a total of $2!!

And my bed room.  Not a lot going on in there, we just recently decided on a color scheme.  I'm hoping to get something up on the
wall in the next week or so.  And I can't wait to sand/paint our side tables.  Mine esp needs it.  It is another GW find.  Poor thing was
sitting in the corner covered in cup rings and dust.  It is loved now though.

That's it for now!  I'll make sure to post pics of the 4th kitchen chair once I have finished it.  I also want to do something with the small
table next to the computer desk.  I have had it for over 2yrs now I think and that thing needs a good coating of paint or something!
