1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Ugly lamp to wonderful lamp! on: August 08, 2013 11:53:39 AM
Thanks everyone!

That's quite an improvement!  I also like the shade with the color inside.  Unusual.

That shade was on clearance at Target for $5!!  I was SO excited to find it!!

A friend of mine and her AF husband just moved to Anchorage a few months ago.
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: Making the basement a habitable tornado shelter - Part 1: Lots of "Before" pics on: June 18, 2013 08:00:07 AM
DH is an exterminator and he said that the bug you found was a centipede.  I disagree with him b/c the legs are so long!  But then he told me if I didn't believe him to look up 'centipede' on the internet; and I didn't really want to.   Tongue

I wouldn't have guessed centipede, but I think they have longer legs, and millipedes have tiny short ones.
Either way, it is creepy, brrrrrrr, I hate bugs!  Now I have the heeby jeebies!  I live in Nebraska, and we do
not have a basement.  Although from what I have been told there hasn't been any tornadoes in this area
for quite some time.  We've only been here a year.

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Help in recreating a cute tank on: April 16, 2013 10:50:04 AM
I really love the tank top in this outfit, but it is way out of my budget.
I'm not a very experienced sewer, and have no idea how to even start on something like this. Help?

That is awesome! I'm going to have to look into those paints. There is a duvet in urban outfitters I want to recreate because it doesn't come in the right size for my bed. I bet this would work! You did a great job, and I love the colors.

I love the fabric.  Those are one of my favorite color combos too!  Great job.
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Re: Getting rid of spiders - non chemically on: April 02, 2013 06:25:12 PM
If I remember correctly there is a pin on pinterest linking to a website with non abrasive ways to repel insects
such as spiders.  I think it mentioned using peppermint oil in a diluted spray on the outsides of windows, and doors.
I guess you could call it chemical, but it is safe, and I'm guessing it wouldn't hurt any sort of plants it comes in touch
with.

Here is a link to a blog, not the one I first came upon, but it gives instructions.

You did such a great job!  It looks awesome.
With shorter legs my little dogs would love something like this.
