21  New side table! <3 EDIT- now pics after grout. in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by K3lly on: September 15, 2011 01:17:19 PM
I'm not done with it yet, it still needs to be grouted.  But I am so excited about it I can't wait to share it!!

I have kept my eyes open for an end table to put in the living room.  Last weekend I found one at Goodwill
for an extra 50% off, making it only $6!! I was excited, and I LOVE the shape of it.  I had decided to spray
paint the table the same color I painted some frames a while back since I just love the color so much.  But I
wanted to do something really special for the top.  So I decided to get colored marbles.  the ones that are flat
on one side.  Glue them to the table and grout over top of them.  I painted the top white so the colors would
show extra bright! This morning I glued the marbles, and I plan to grout it very soon.

All done
You can see where I ended off to the left where I had used all the colors, leaving only yellow. :\

Almost done... only need to grout it now!

This is the very first time I have grouted anything at all.  I'm happy with it.
It still needs to be sealed, but I have to wait till tonight to make sure the grout has set.

22  Freezer paper COLTS stencil on onsie and tutu in Stenciling: Completed Projects by K3lly on: August 23, 2011 03:08:55 PM
My friend had a baby on the first of this month.  I had told her a number of months ago I would
do this for her and am just now actually doing it.  Good thing her baby is super tiny, and will prolly
be about 12mo before it will fit in this 3-6 shirt. lol  I still need to add the number 17 to the back
like how they want it.  Apparently they know #17 on the Colts team.  I'm not big on sports, I have
no idea who the guy is!  But here yea go.  I just did a google image search for the shoe, sized it
right, and used paint for the txt.  This is also the first time i have done a stencil with floaters. I was
a bit nervous abuot messing it up, but I think it came out nice.

23  Care Bear Massacre Cake-- Photo Tute in Dessert by K3lly on: August 18, 2011 08:55:14 AM
So these rainbow cakes are all over Pinterest, and when I first saw it, I knew I wanted to try it.
I am not much of a baker, but I have been in the mood to try new things lately.  So here ya go.
I took pictures of just about every step, so it is somewhat of a picture tutorial I guess.

And all these colors remind me of Care Bears!

Start with the essentials.  I went with the 4 egg white option.
Ohh, pre-heat your oven!

Add eggs, oil, and water.

Mix it all together.

Separate into as many bowls as you will have colors.  I mixed red and blue for purple!

Add food coloring.

Mix them all together.  Something to think about-- use different utensils for mixing.
I wasted a bit wiping the knife I used going from color to color. I know, I'm silly!

Randomly add the colors to your cake pan. I wish I had a fancy round one!

I think it looks like the food from 'HOOK' the Robin Williams movie of the Peter Pan story.
The part where they were teaching him how to use his imagination at dinner time, and
they end up having a food fight!

A shot from the oven!

Hot from the oven!

I forgot to grease the dish (told you I am not much for baking) so instead of tearing
it to pieces getting it out, I just frosted it in the dish.  Look at those colors!

My dirty dishes have never been so happy and colorful! Smiley

24  Hoots of a different color <3 in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by K3lly on: August 06, 2011 03:40:59 PM
Like many of you can def understand... I have an addiction to Goodwill shopping.
I really try and stay away so I do not go broke.  Because lets face face it... I have
a severe case of 'Who needs money when I have this magic plastic card here.'  So
last week DH and I went poking around GW.  As we were about to leave I just hardly
notice out of the corner of my eye a very lonely looking owl.  Ohh, did I mention that
I love owls as well?!

I just HAD to give him a loving new home.  And for $2.25 who could would argue with
me about it right!  We get home and he is perching quietly on the kitchen counter.  Much
different from the actual live parrot in the house. :\  I decided that since his coloring did
not go so well with my rather colorful living area.  And I had been meaning to spray some
of my picture frames anyways.

I make my way down to Home Depot in search of one of my most recent favorite colors.
TURQUOISE! I find a very dark 'lagoon' color that I approved of, and ran back home!  Along
with 6 or so frames, he got a nice cleaning, and colorful shower!  I love the way he turned
out.  He is just perfect!  I also found out there is a mate to him!  If anyone has one of these
I would def be willing to buy him from you as well as pay shipping.

So here is a pic I found online of the two together, and then what he looks like now.  <3
I think I will name him Herald.

25  Fruit stand/tray in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by K3lly on: July 20, 2011 08:52:00 AM
I guess this goes here..... I don't really post a lot, I'm more of a lurker... but her ya go.

I have a nice big ceramic type bowl I put all my fruit in, but we have been buying a lot more lately, and I wanted
something with a little more color to it since I am running with a few colors in mind for my decor.  So I made this
I got 2 plates, and a great candle stick at the Goodwill store, spray painted the candle stick, glued a nice color card
to the bottom of the top plate, and then glued it all together with E-6000 glue.  Let me know what you think.

26  Pom pom flowers in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by K3lly on: May 11, 2011 01:19:53 PM
I guess this is the right place for these...?

A while back my wonderful husband got me some very beautiful orchids... my favorite.
Well of course they only last so long, and they eventually wilted and fell off.  I did not
want to just throw the stems away, so I made these pom pom flowers to give it life again.
This is my first time making flowers like this, and I think the bigger ones could use more yarn.
But I like them, and they match well with my bright decor.  And I just noticed I still have not
moved them to a pretty pot... I'll have to get around to that.

C&C Welcome

27  HooooooooooooooT in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by K3lly on: February 11, 2011 10:05:21 AM
A friend of mine from a forum posted on FB a cute Tshirt that had an owl on it, and said how much she loved owls.... So I made this for her.  I got a frame for it yesterday, but he has not made it into the frame yet.

And I showed a picture of it to one of my friends, and she asked me to make one for her too.  I came up with this one, even though she likes it, she prefers brighter colors. So I'm gonna see what else I can come up with.  He is not on a background yet in this picture. Sorry for the less than great lighting.

C&C More than welcome

29  Suggestions Welcome ~ Photo Engorged! 11 new pieces!! in Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions by K3lly on: February 03, 2011 02:35:20 PM
Hello all!
My husband is in the AF, and we moved about 3 months ago, and I really wanted to change the look of our decor... I wanted something special, something I could call my own, something different than what we have had for so long.  I had planned on hitting up the local CL, Goodwill, and Thrift stores.  As I really wanted all my stuff to be refinished unwanted/loved furniture. Not to mention with out spending a boat load of money.

One thing that I knew, but has recently come back to memory, is that Military families move a lot, and they often times down size their furniture before everything is packed up.  About a week after I got here (about 3 weeks before my stuff got here :\ ) I noticed that my neighbors had set out some kitchen chairs on the curb, and I wanted them.  Not only because they were awesome, but bcs I was sitting on the floor! lol

I was just so excited about my awesome score I wanted to share with everyone here.  I can't wait to share my after pictures to go with these before.

Wonderful curb side find.

Wonderful red nail polish on the seat.

This is my favorite one... I need to replace the entire seat though, because the underside is moldy.

This I do believe will end up being a small table, to maybe display a plant or something.  It is only about 3ft tall.

This table is a CL find... Not sure what I plan to do to it yet though.

This little side table is also a wonderful CL find.

My goodwill finds...
$3 woot!

Sorry about the crappy lighting... as far as color goes, think of a lemon... as a chair!

Oh, and this one I totally got free when our old neighbors were moving! I just love when people move, and I get there cool stuff!

I am super excited to get busy, and I have plenty of work to keep me busy for a little while!  I plan on a color pallet of Red, Turquoise, and Yellow.  Any suggestions, or technique ideas are more than welcome.

30  clock for my friend in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by K3lly on: August 15, 2010 03:12:43 AM
My friend LOVES Marilyn Monroe.
And he was moving into a new place, and kept saying how he needed a clock.  I told him I would take care of that for him, and buy him a clock.  Anywho, I bought one of the canvas 'paintings' they sell at WM, and a cheap clock.  I spray painted the arms of the clack to match her lips, poked a hole in the canvas, and glued the works of the clock on the back side, and attached the arms.  He LOVES IT!! Smiley

I actually did this about a year ago, but forgot to take a picture myself... and he just now got around to sending me this.
