1  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Quilt basting slightly easier on: April 19, 2009 12:33:39 PM
Great idea! If they charge and you have a friend, or two, you could even turn it into a scheduled event! BTW - basting while pregnant is hard, but wait till you try basting with baby. Or toddler! Thanks for the tip!

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Bamboo placemat purse on: April 12, 2009 06:51:57 PM

Today I did the initial sewing on the face and hands for a Gypsy quilt block I am doing. Not much progress, but once the face was sewn, it had to be washed to remove the marker I used to mark the features for sewing. While that was drying, I worked on a new purse. It is made from thrift store items. The material was a man's shirt for 50 cents, the handles were from a 50 cent handbag that was otherwise trash, and the bamboo is a placemat which came from a brand new pack of four that they had marked at 90 cents! The flower on the front I made with my embroidery machine and I added tiny gems to the center of each flower for a little bling. It has two pockets and strap to hold pens and my ever present notebook. It is a little small for me, and I prefer a long handle, but I couldn't pass up those placemats! Not bad for 1.25! Can you tell I'm over winter?

I'm too old to be steampunk too. But I know what I like and I LOVE these!
7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Watercolor Stencil Paintings on: April 12, 2009 02:44:17 PM
How do you create them? They really are awesome. I have no talent for painting.
8  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Don't know what to put on my product labels :( please help! on: April 12, 2009 11:39:25 AM
I would use number 2 with the Etsy site. People taking the time to look it up are likely doing so in order to make a purchase. I know I would.
9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: larry the teddy-monster on: April 11, 2009 06:06:15 PM
Very cute! As for the bottom, there are ways that would be less visible, but since it is for your son, I bet he doesn't care! Strength is probably more important than invisibility.
10  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Play Campfire on: April 11, 2009 04:00:04 PM
I am going to have to make one of those for my 2 year old grandson! He goes camping all the time with his dad. What great creativity!
