I was just looking at some of these in a shop, thinking I could surely put some of my book stash to use.  However, most of their sales were of books that were cut out in the shape of a flask (or a handgun).  That got me to wondering... Do the younger folks take their drinks to school in a seemingly harmless book?  I was thinking of making one to stash the remote on a side table.

I've been watching the commercials and looking at this product in the store and wondering if it would really work.  The tute you referenced plus your added details (love the chili pepper fabric) convinced me that it was worth a try - only using the DIY method and saving some $$$$$. 

I didn't think the before look was all that bad, until I saw the finished table.  That is absolutely magnificent.  It looks like a very expensive piece.  Great restoration!

Love the rustic look and the birdhouse theme idea.  Can't wait to see an action photo when you get the room finished.

Love the design!  There's nothing like the custom fit you get when you make your own pattern.  I'll bet you and your date were the most coordinated couple there.

Don't you just love Scrabble tiles!  Thanks for sharing your idea, I think I'll use them for refrigerator magnets.  Maybe put up a "thought for the day" or some quotes I love.

The only thing I can think of to say is WOW!  As always, this project is so inspiring...it makes me want to get out my "stuff" and create.

Love it!  I just made my daughter a twirly skirt and was thinking of making a sun dress with that same method.  I may alter it a bit and do some pleating like yours instead which makes it less little-girlyish.

Awesome renovation!  Just wondering how those gorgeous countertops are going to wear.  Do you have to be extra careful not to scratch it?  Or set anything hot on it?
