1  the pea for a princess in Halloween Costumes by sarasaurus on: November 02, 2009 02:39:36 PM
I am Living in Denmark, where Hans Christian Andersen lived. So I decided to go as a character. and the pea from the Princess, and the Pea was born. The princess costume I also made very simply with a small tulle skirt and a tiara I had from a previous queen bee outfit, but is not shown (and was given to the first non-costumed party go-er).

the peas are made from cotton stuffed with poly-fil and everything was sewn on my old pfaff http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=302177&size=big&cat=&ppuser=176089. The shell is made from green felt. Unfortunately it was very hot the night of the party, so I ended up being shell-less most of the night.

One of the side effects was looking very pregnant,  but I am not in kansas anymore, so it really didn't matter that I wasn't sexy.

PS. Halloween is my FAVORITE holliday, and so this was a great time.

2  Hooded tee w/ pockets in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by sarasaurus on: April 12, 2009 02:32:25 PM
I am in the middle of trying to "update my look", which means starting to dress like a professional. Unfortunately, this is much harder than it looks, and so I ended  up with something my 16 y/o cousin would wear.
The pockets are set into the seam, and are my favorite part. I am working on enlarging my sewing "toolkit" (meaning abilities), and these pockets were a nice addition.  I ended up riping every seam out at least once to finish, but it was worth it.

as a finial touch I was thinking: reverse applique. however, i think i will save that for another garment, as this one is busy enough.
