22  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Yardage ?? on: April 20, 2009 10:02:51 AM
ok I admit my brains left me , so for us who are plus size , what yardage do you buy if you see a fabric you like but have no project yet in mind but you want to have enough yards of fabric just in case ? Solid colors mostly.
Since last year I lost several sizes due to severe illness and my figure is not what it used to be. Buying clothes in a shop is a challenge. So I turned to making some handsewn garments. I am a E/F cups the boobs grow still due to my medicines. I am a eurosize 48/50 in RTW. Zaftig figure bit of a waist.
Any advice? Thanks.
23  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / burda 147 wrapped skirt in plus size ? on: April 20, 2009 09:50:41 AM
Did anyone make the 147 burda wrapped skirt in a plus size ?
I am thinking how to enlarge the pattern but since I do handsewing before I put lots of hours into this since I usually handsew small items I thought perhaps to ask here. I did search but nothing. At least I did not find it.
24  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Sewing inheritance stories ..... on: April 15, 2009 11:38:30 PM
On some of the posts I read persons mentioning they got their mom's or grandmother's fabric stash or some auntie gave them their patterns. I always enjoy reading such stories and perhaps other people also like reading this.
The most interesting story in this category not sewing related is on a bead forum years ago someone told they inherited two trailers full of beads. Oh my!
So any stories on how you got that fabric stash from the past ? Vintage patterns ? Vintage notions? etc etc

26  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / how much fabric & what types of fabric did you buy in 2009? on: April 07, 2009 02:29:53 AM
Well as we are nearing mid april I was thinking this year 2009 how much fabric did you buy and what types of fabric ? I came to this question after just this morning I sorted my fabric stash and looked at what I bought so far this year. Myself 2.5 yards dupioni silk , total of 5 yards quilt cotton fabric in 1/2 and 1/4 yard , 2 yards muslin and 1/4 yard tafetta. I do all my fabric shopping online no fabric shop where I live.
27  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / handsewn silk evening bags on: April 04, 2009 11:38:13 AM
Just this start of spring I took up handsewing of silk evening bags. Looking for things and info online I found this forum. I am curious if anyone else is into making silk evening bags?
