1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: round resin beads?? on: November 08, 2009 07:11:33 PM
Diane's way is exactly how I make mod bubble rings.  It's AWESOME!  I have to do it in two pours though due to shrinkage.  It's hard to get perfect again, but it's not impossible to make it look damn good. (Pardon my French.)
2  Category Challenges / Jewelry and Trinkets: Challenge Entries / Re: Theme Suggestions for Jewelry Challenge! on: October 28, 2009 07:45:23 PM
I like color challenges too!

Or maybe a style challenge like nouveau, deco, graffiti etc, or cultural (african, indian, japanese), or geek-chic, or masculine pieces even...

Just a few brainstorms.
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Capacitor Ring...with snazzy photos this time! on: October 21, 2009 05:53:32 PM
Let me start this by saying that I have been locked in the dregs of hell with a computer that fried a chip.  For serious.  So now we have a new computer...not new new but new to us.

That said...I posted a photo of a ring a while ago, and folks had questions, wanted to see more detailed pictures (I guess the ones with my dirty knuckles didn't do the ring justice)...

The ring is 1.  huge and then some.  It's about an 11 but that's a small estimate  2.  wrapped with 20g square sterling (the first time I've ever wrapped a ring!)  3.  a resin cab that we made in studio with an old capacitor that was lying around the space, the color is hand dyed (we mixed the color)  4.  sparklier than it appears, I think.  The main color comes from embossing powders, and the hints of added sparkle are holographic glitter  5.  worn, worn, worn, worn!  I love this ring.  I love it to death.  I have worn it to work (industrial mechanic), gardened in it, whatever. The cab doesn't look nearly so beat up in person, but lights pick up a TON of detail/surface scratches.

The only thing I would change is the band.  If I had realized the band was only going to be 2 strands, I would have started with two more.  I like chunky bands, for sure, but this one is pretty comfy anyways.

ahhhhhhh...it sure is good to be back, old friend.

Ummm, full frontal:

Errrr, I have no idea where in the world that hair came from...I swear!!! my knuckles aren't THAT hairy.

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Some of our latest RESIN!!! on: September 14, 2009 03:45:07 PM
Muse: Online ships everywhere!  Try Dick Blick...or even check the resin thread for better suppliers.  This world of ours is tiny now that we have the internets.

7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Mallrats quote NSFW! on: September 09, 2009 02:23:13 PM
Hey, Rachel!  As always, your choice of quotes is sublime.  I need this for my table at art shows...although I don't really think the customer would be enticed...

8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Tshirt necklace on: September 08, 2009 02:36:07 PM
I really like this, it's bold and funky.  Perfect for the daring fashionista!  I'd love to see it in some bright colors too (probably because I love stuff that doesn't go with anything!)
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Acid Etch project on: September 08, 2009 02:33:26 PM
Oh!  I love acid etching, and Gloria Swanson too...

This is so pretty and cool.  What are the approximate dimensions?
