1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / My Niece's Nursery on: August 13, 2012 07:37:03 PM
So almost two years ago now (wow, super late post here), my family welcomed our newest addition, a sweet, beautiful little baby I am very proud to call my niece. Now, due to the circumstances surrounding the birth, namely the fact that her father was still in college, she and her parents moved into my parents' basement, which meant a lot of work in the months leading up to her birth because the basement was pretty much just studs and some insulation! My mom worked her butt off and I was right down there with her helping to get the space liveable in time, a feat we managed just in the nick of time. I decided to make one room my own little "project" and put my artistic abilities to good use by whipping up a little something in the nursery.

2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Acrylic painting of a crow on: June 10, 2012 09:17:18 AM
I got bored the other day and broke out the acrylic craft paints and an old canvas.

Sorry about the poor image quality, I don't have a camera and I had to use my phone.
3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Question for all you Canadians out there! on: October 22, 2009 01:30:24 PM
Gah! I'm having a minor meltdown, here. Why?

I can't find a pair of bright green and black striped tights anywhere.

I've checked all the local costume shops and the Bargain Shop, but I can't find any. This seems silly to me, because aren't they a traditonal piece of a witch costume? The big problem is that I live in a small town, so small that we're close neighbours with Nowhere, so I don't have access to a lot of specialty stores, but maybe all you wonderful craftsters can help me. You see, I would just oder them online, but the only shops that seem to be selling them are American and they all want to charge me $20 shipping to send me a $5 product!!

So, has anyone seen a pair of bright green an black striped tights anywhere in a Canadian store?!
4  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Zombie Disposal Stencilled T-Shirt on: August 18, 2009 12:56:31 PM
Wow! My first post! This isn't my first stencil, but I can't post that one because it's for a swap!

Basically, I've had these t-shirts lying around for a while and I haven't had any ideas what to do with them...until I discovered all the freezer paper stencils I keep seeing on these boards! One drawback, I don't know what freezer paper is nor can I find it Sad. However, I did find something called Palette Paper in my art cupboard and it seemed to fit the description of freezer paper, so I've been using it with great success! For this stencil, I found a biohazard symbol online and traced it, then drew a rendition of my hand behind it. I added the text later, which was traced from a computer print out. If I've learned anything from this, it's that what seems like a good idea can turn out to be difficult, tedious, and annoying. It was worth it, though, I like how it turned out!

If anyone has any tips, critiques, or anything of that nature, I'd love to hear it and use it to improve! Also, if anyone can explain freezer paper, that'd be lovely!
