11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Dotee Swap #13 Send out 11/30/12 on: December 03, 2012 06:02:45 PM
You're very welcome! I'm glad you liked it--it turned out to be perfect, since you ended up combining two of my themes too  Grin  Crafty minds think alike, I suppose.
12  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: you can almost hear the 8 bit sound... on: December 03, 2012 08:40:19 AM
Yeah I definitely wouldn't have been able to let that go, and I really admire people who have the drive to make whole quilts for craft swaps! Awesome job!
13  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: The seven years in the making, Granny Square blanket! on: December 02, 2012 07:38:05 PM
Just looking at that blanket makes me want to get all snuggly  Cheesy It looks lovely!

Oh how I love that yarn hat! I would have never had the patience to get it to do what I wanted like that. Love the bird too!

I dunno, I tend to send late on Friday due dates, but I think that's because of my own bad planning, sooooo nobody else's fault.   Embarrassed  I kind of like a middle-week send out myself, but my personal schedule is weird. Yeah.

Anyway I'll be sending late this time because I've had a work project that has eaten my day. Everything's ready to go otherwise, though, and then I'll go post the dotee I've received in the gallery. I've enjoyed the ones that have been put up so far!

I received from Bec99 today! I think I'm going to wait to take pics until I've sent, but just wanted to let everyone know. It is the most adorable thing  Grin

I love using my dotees as ornaments! They make the tree look so whimsical, the main drawback being that my son loves to take them down and play with them all. So I'm not sure if I'll do that this year, or go with something that can be ruined without much heartbreak.

I remember making that Beatles dotee! I'm flattered to know it's one of your favorites, Pollyprissypants!  Grin Grin Grin

My dotee making is going along fine, but I keep changing my mind about a few things. Grrrrr. I know what I want to do, but I can't decide for sure on how I want it to look. I'm making the ones I'm sure about though, so I can think about it for a little while longer.

Sorry I've been gone! I was out on a trip (drove eight hours straight to see Paul McCartney in concert  Grin totally worth it), but I've got this weekend clear, so I'm hoping to get most of my crafting done tonight and tomorrow. I've chosen a main theme for my dotees, since I like them to all go together in some general way, even though I tailor them to my partner's interests. I think my particular ideas this time around are going to be fun  Smiley

Hmmmm, I have my theories about the teaser pic, but I'll have to wait and see. Unfortunately I haven't been able to start my brainstorming yet, but I'm thinking about either this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon. I've glanced at the surveys, though, and I've got a few things turning around in my head. I'm also planning to try and do this without purchasing anything new--can't wait to dig into my stash!

Wow, Kookaloo, you're on a roll! I really love that stitch that you're using for the cardigan, and especially the colors! Do you know if you can recreate that stitch with crochet?

I'm sorry but I have no idea how to make something similar in crochet.
For the garter parts (the ridges), i would think maybe sc in the back loops. For the dropped stitches, maybe triple crochet.
I've never converted anything to crochet, but i think those could maybe do think.

Hm, I'm thinking you're right about the sc for the garter stitch, but instead of triple crochet, I think a solomon's knot stitch would probably be closer. It's something I'll have to experiment with. I think I have a weekend project!  Grin
