shanta.devi: Thanks! I'm glad you like the stamps; I feel like they just don't get enough love!
I've been working in a new journal lately, and have been doing a lot of doodling. I thought I'd share a few of the pages here, for those who may be interested:
There are a few more in my member gallery and in my flickr. I used to have a lot of trouble getting my doodling to look right, but I was watching some of Teesha Moore's videos on youtube the other day, and she said something that helped me a lot. She said you shouldn't ever shy away from repetition in your work because it's what makes you good at what you do. I had never thought about it that way before, but it really helped me get going, since I had been afraid before of not being creative enough. I figured if I repeated my motifs too much I would just seem boring, but not worrying about that has really enabled me to get down onto paper the ideas that I have in my head.
ThreadorYarn, I'm so glad you liked your package! The dotee was made from magazine strips that I glued down and painted over. I know that's not really what you had in mind when you listed the "Magazine strips technique," but that's what I was inspired to do when I saw it. All the other packages are looking great--I love the Picasso themed one!
And here, finally, are the packages I received from HelmetWearer and Ysmeine. From Ysmeine:
It reminds me of moths, which I love. And I wish I could get a better picture of the face, but my phone will not oblige I believe it's made from glittery polymer clay.
The ATC and inchies:
Steampunk (!), a robin, and some beautifully dimensioned inchies, one of which I think I'll have to add to a necklace. They were all arranged in this nice handmade card:
I LOVE getting cards during swaps; I like to use them in my art journals in different ways!
And from HelmetWearer:
A happy little geisha who hangs smiling on my dotee board.
Space-themed inchies and ATC, OH SQUEE! I LOVE the spaceman, and, well, all of them really.
Thank you both so much! I enjoyed swapping with all of you!
Wow, there have been so many great things so far! I love the happiness dotee, she's so cute!
Here is the package I received from ThreadOrYarn this week. First, the dotee:
She is especially welcome to my collection because, besides being adorable, this is actually the first traditional-style dotee I've received! And the ATC and inchies:
I'm sorry for the blurry cell phone pics The ATC is titled "Ducks," and out of the inchies, three of them are math related One has an expansion of the irrational number pi in the background, another has a little algebra problem on it, and the third says, "The infinity symbol is sometimes called the lumniscate." The fourth is of a monochromatic tree in navy blue.
Kittymom, thanks; I certainly am enjoying the new space I wish I could knit socks myself, but it always confuses the heck out of me. Don't know why
The felt balls are neat! They look like they'd be neat hanging from a light or something.
Ok, so as it turns out, my phone actually takes pretty decent pics, so here are a few of the things I've been making:
A dollar store wreath that I've had forever and needed to finish.
Another dollar store wreath that I needed to finish. The Rapunzel scarf is for a friend.
A craft hutch that I had sitting around forever also. I have a few more that I need to finish as well.
A wall hanging that enabled me to use up some of my MASSIVE paper collection, as well as my ribbon. I had also been wondering what to do with the pin at the top, which I made from a bottle cap and hot-glued to a thumbtack.
There are more pictures at my flickr and member gallery. It's only the beginning--I have many more projects in progress!
Ok, I'm so sorry that it took me FOREVER to post the envelope I received from Costumesaremylife, but I've been dealing with some familial crap lately. Anyway, what she sent me was AWESOME, and I love it all!
I LOVE the little cupcakes, and the preppy used car salesman suit. And the look on that cat's face is DEATH!
The "Married women jobs" advertisement made me laugh when I saw it, and I absolutely adore paper dolls! I'll probably use it in an art journal or other artwork, but I'm so tempted just to cut out all the pieces and play with it!
More of the paper doll stuff, and googly eyes! Thanks so much, I love it!
I received my first envelope from Varifiresis yesterday, and here it is!
That's the back and front of the envelope, which was partially covered by the extra postage. I like the stickers!
And here's what was inside:
Some awesome charms and beads, which I can't wait to use, a neat ephemera card, some heart stickers, some rub-ons (which I've never used before...I'm looking forward to it!) which got a little bit rubbed off during transit, but I'm pretty sure I can still make them work, and the black stuff in the back is shrinky dink plastic! I've been wanting to try that stuff FOREVER, but hadn't been able to get my hands on it, so I'm super excited about trying this stuff out. Thanks so much, Varifiresis!
Sorry it took so long to post these; I wanted to finish up with my other swap before I turned to this one. Here are the lovely inchies I received from MandyKaye:
Aren't they fun? I love the little dimensional items that she included, and also the gingerbread house and Santa's sleigh scene, although they're all great!
She also sent along the sweetest little note which I've tucked into my junque journal, which is where I stash all the notes and letters I receive from swaps. Now to finish mine. I only have a few more left, and lately it's seemed as if EVERY TIME I sit down to work on them, something ends up getting in my way. It's soooo frustrating!
Hey there! I promise I'm not a flake, I've just been unpacking for the past week! But I've finally scanned the wonderful stamps I received and here they are:
This was the first package I got, from puzzler, and I love them! I had asked for abstract stamps and Asian-related things, and I've already got plans for some scrapbook layouts that will use some of these.
Here is the second, from Volomortuus. Octopusses are one of my favorite creatures, and the snake is singularly awesome. I think I'm going to use them on some zoo trip scrapbook layouts.
She also sent along some amazing extras:
Some paper bits that I'll have fun using, some awesome sealife slides (where did you get those? They're so cool, and nobody really uses them anymore now that we have powerpoint), and a Speedy-cut block, which I'm looking forward to using because I've never tried it before.
Thanks to all my awesome partners! I've got one more package on the way, and I'm hoping all of mine have reached their destinations safely.
Strwberrytart, I'm so sorry about what happened! I wish there were something I could do, but I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts.
Here is the last dotee I received from Shelichan. It's like the others that she sent out, but in my favorite color--green--and, being a dedicated tea addict, I think it's a PERFECT addition to my dotee collection.
Thank you so much! I'm sorry I've been absent for so long, but I've been moving and my stuff got packed for a while. I've gone back and looked at all the dotees that have been posted since, though, and they're all amazing! This was a great round!
