Amazingly clever to use the fruit fabric for applique -- I never would have thought of doing that!

Very cute!!

I just bought those exact same sheets from a thrift store recently.  I think I'm gonna make reusable shopping totes with them.  Like you, I totally loved the bright colors.

Dress looks great!

That's absolutely beautiful!  I love peacock feathers, and they look so graceful the way you've arranged them on the dress.  Great work!!

irasema,

Keep us posted.  I'd love to hear if those instructions in the clover PDF really do allow you to do different stitches with a punch needle, or if you really need their specific tool for some reason.

Good luck!

Big Daddy Kane would be proud, I'm sure.  You realize I'm going to have to go dig out my old cassette tape to listen to that song now, right?

This is so great!

From the thumbnail I thought it was Darren from Miami Ink, and thought "whoa, you must be a huge fan!"  Makes a lot more sense that you'd spend your time embroidering your boyfriend.  Awesome!

They look wonderful!  Love those birdies!

OK, I couldn't find any REALLY clear instructions, but check out this PDF from Clover  http://www.clover-usa.com/project_img/Casual%20Accessories%20w%20Embroidered%20Motifs.pdf .  Looks like for the satin stitch you keep the bevel of the needle facing slightly away from the direction of your stitches, and for the loops you want the bevel to face the same direction as the way you're stitching.

It also almost looks like the satin stitch and backstitch are worked from the front of the fabric, while the loops are done from the back of the fabric, but I really can't tell for sure.

PS - sorry, the PDF displays sideways.  It's how it was on their site and my computer was unhappy when I tried to rotate it.

Interesting.  I hadn't even HEARD of punch needle embroidering before last week.  I bought a punch needle but haven't tried it yet.

The punch needle I got was a cheapie from Michael's -- I bought it on a whim b/c I'd never heard of it before.  Then a few days later I saw the clover embroidery tool at Joann.  To me, they look like the same tool.  I was halfway tempted to use a 40% off coupon to buy the clover tool because it looked like it contained instructions inside of it for doing satin stitch and backstitch with it, rather than just the loopy stitches.

I might have to look and see if clover has a website, b/c when I search regarding punch needle embroidery, the only instructions I find are for the loopy stuff.
