2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / The Mighty Morphing Pack Rat Extraodinaire(TMMPRE)!!! on: May 13, 2009 09:48:27 PM
Ok, so lately I've been on this crazy re-using binge and have somehow turned into The Mighty Morphing Pack Rat Extraordinaire(TMMPRE). The moment I see something in my house that has a potential use I run to the nearest phone booth and insta-change my clothes clark kent style to become TMMPRE! Problem? My kitchen counter is getting a little crowded between the glass cream soda bottles, the monster cans and the old boxes that once held them prisoner.

So! I call out into the night, Craftsters, for a sidekick! Someone who can help me battle the growing pile of stuff and transform it into a respectable pile doing good for the community! Of course, I'll settle for it just being plain useful too. For now: AWAYY!!

Such a lovely dress! It flatters her figure very well. :}

Personally, I hate shopping for dresses at malls and department stores-anyone over a size two is like to have their self esteem crushed needlessly. Your daughter is lovely and I'm glad that she got not only a flattering dress, but an original one! Cheesy

This is just about the cutest octopus pattern I've seen! My friend loves octopi(puses?) so I am all sorts of gonna give this a try :}

Ok, this might sound little gross, but bear with me: Pickles and hummus on whole wheat pita bread

I love it :}
6  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: what do you wish people told you before you became a vegetarian/vegan on: May 01, 2009 04:41:08 PM
I just finished reading all 27 pages of this thread and some of it is rather amusing! Cheesy

Before I get into what I wish someone had told me I must say it's rather amusing reading a post that says something along the lines of 'I wish someone had told me that omnis would try to establish veggie cred' and then later reading a post from an omni trying to establish veggie cred for being a vegetarian 'every other day'. NOT to knock those who used to be, and would still be, veggies if not for certain health issues. The irony just kinda makes me giggle.

I only have one thing I wish someone had told me: how satisfied I'd be with my eating experience! For almost 4 years (with a 6 month instance in between somewhere when I ate hamburgers that I don't count in the total time) I ate anything but 'land meat' (i.e. only poultry and seafood-water and sky meat) and eventually I started just feeling bored with eating in general (which was really really bad) until I cooked some recipes from the copy of 'Vegan With a Vengeance' I got for my vegetarian friend. Immediately my interest in food was rekindled and now not only am I a better cook, but a better eater too! Cheesy

Reading on the first page about black beans made me crave 'em. So tonight it's canned black bean and vegetable soup and fresh spinach/sauteed onions in garlic oil (with a little oregano)/feta cheese sandwiches on rosemary peasant bread  Cheesy

Hey, I just moved to the Phoenix area also! I moved here from New Jersey sometime last month so I haven't got any friends out here either.. Cry
