1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / White Pleated Brocade Skirt on: June 08, 2013 09:57:08 AM

I made this skirt after seeing this lovely skirt on Pinterest..

I loved the Brocade but didn't know if I could pull off the longer length so I made mine shorter and more wearable for hot Utah Summers.

The fabric is from Mood (http://www.moodfabrics.com/white-cream-damask-brocade.html) and the pattern I used was Melissa Esplin's skirt tutorial (http://melissaesplin.com/2013/04/tutorial-kate-spade-inspired-skirt/).

More details about the process can be found on my blog here: http://hayleeatkinson.blogspot.com/2013/06/white-brocade-skirt.html

Beautiful, how warm is it?

Super warm surprisingly! I think it's the wool, but ya it has definitely stood up to cold Utah weathers which is saying a lot.

Awesome job! I really like the length. Too many coats have a short hem, which just isn't so great in cold weather Sad  did you happen to line it?

Wow thanks so much everyone! Goodness you guys are all too nice. Seriously these comments really meant a lot to me. Mini_m00se yes I did line it! I used light pink polyester, I should have taken a picture but I didn't even think about it!

I realize Im a little behind on the times in making a wool coat just in time for Spring, ha but I live in Utah so really its pretty much Winter all year round anyways.

This coat was created using the Burda Style coat pattern from The Burda Style Handbook, and then just gray wool fabric from Joann's.

This was my first time making a coat so I'm actually kind of amazed it turned out! ha but hey I'll take it.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Sequin Gold Pencil Skirt on: April 02, 2013 09:06:21 AM

I made this skirt using sequin gold fabric from Spandex House, and Butterick B5466. I loove this pattern, it's so simple to use and super versatile. I've used it for lace, sequins, knits, it works with everything!

Just in case anyone cares more details can be found here: hayleeatkinson.blog spot.com/2013/03/gold-sequin-pencil-skirt.html

Have a great day everyone! Smiley

WOW. Fabulous, fabulous job. I am utterly speechless!!
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Sequin Bodice Dress on: March 29, 2013 07:53:02 AM

So I can't pull off mini dresses. I'm too tall, so when I saw this first dress from Tobi I was sad that I'd never be able to wear such a gem.

So I decided to take the DIY route and make my own, adding sleeves and about 10 inches to the skirt.

I drafted the bodice and then I used Newlook 6723 for the skirt because I was not about to draft a skirt pattern because they are annoying and big and I hate doing them. Smiley

Blogged about here http://hayleeatkinson.blogspot.com/2013/03/teach-me-how-to-shimmer.html for those of you who are interested.

After seeing this lovely shirt on Pinterest,

I wanted to make one similar but I didn't want long sleeves and I wanted it to be a button-down front. So this is what I came up with,

The fit isn't great, but I'm hoping the shiny sequins will help make that less noticeable. Smiley haha
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Lace Peter Pan Collar Dress. on: December 31, 2012 11:19:09 PM

I recently finished this dress using Burda 7494 and an old Simplicity 4802 pattern I had.

It doesn't quite fit with the freezing cold Utah weather we have at the moment but I still like it. Smiley

Happy New Year everyone!  Smiley
