HOW THIS SWAP WORKS:
Claims are made throughout the month.  You have two weeks from the time you make a claim to send that claim.

You can make as many (or as few) claims as you want throughout the month as long as you never go over your allowed amount of outstanding claims. (An outstanding claim is a PAGE that has not been received; when that PAGE is received your number of outstanding claims goes down leaving you open to bring it back up to 10 or 7.)

Posting of received PAGES is required for this swap.

CLAIMING
1. Claims are made using the following procedure:
Person A (the swap organizer) will begin the swap by posting NAME AND INFO
Person B will choose  A and make a claim by posting NAME AND INFO
Person C will make a claim of B and post NAME AND INFO.
This continues through the end of the month, when the swap organizer makes the final claim and closes out the claiming part of the swap.

2. How many claims can be made by each individual:
The number of claims each person is allowed depends on the following criteria:
*Friends of Craftster: 10
*Those who aren't Friends of Craftster: 7
*First time swappers (whether Friends of Craftster or not): 1 claim.  Once the initial claim has been sent, and its new owner has reported it received, the first time swapper is free to make more claims, either 7 or 10 dependent on being an FRIEND OF CRAFTSTER or not.

3. How to make a claim:
A claim post should include the following information:
1. Statistical info about your current swap claims status:
    * Claims = Claims currently outstanding (ie., how many not yet received by their new owners.) (This number goes down each time a claim is received, and up each time you make a claim.)
    * Sent = anything currently in the mail.
    * Received = the PAGES received by the people you've sent them to.

My nine year old son has been watching me make ATC's for the Ongoing swaps and personal use for sometime now and loves to make them right along side me. He even came home from school with a few that he had swapped with his other classmates (I think the art teacher must have put them up to this) which I thought was really cool!
Anyhow, recently he has asked me if he could join in on the swap too. I thought maybe I could just put him the normal ongoing swap but then thought that it would be really cool to have a Craftster Kid's ATC swap. Has this been done before?? I searched but came up with nothing. Please let me know if so.

What do you think? I thought the age could be anything below 13 since some swaps already allow 13 and over with parental guidance but that is totally negotiable. Also, instead of making them their own account it could be up to the parent to control and take credit for the swap that way it keeps our kid's safe (since you will control any info supplied about your child) and hopefully 'flaker-free'. And should it be set up like the Ongoing swap where you pick as you like? Also, I love the fact that it should be international since my kid will flip if he gets mail from ...well, anywhere really!

He is really excited and asks me everyday if I have done this yet so let me know and I will get it off the ground ASAP!

I love the tarot. I love to read the tarot (when I find time), I love the symbolism, the art and the mystery of it. I have always wanted, and even tried a few times, to create my own deck and I thought this would be a great way to see that to fruition!

Swap details:

We will be crafting one 4x6 tarot card of your partners choice. Leave the back of the card blank (except for 'artist info').

Lets stick to the Universal Rider-Waite deck for card meanings/symbolism. Not to limit your meanings but there are a million different decks out there and this one is the most well-known/universal of the bunch.

All crafting medias should be fine as long as you can use the card, unless your partner says otherwise. I personally would like to use my deck but who knows you might want to frame yours!


A regular size greeting card envelope should be big enough to fit your card but be sure to put it in between some thicker pieces of card stock or cardboard so that it doesn't get ruined during the shipping process (remember the extra weight may change the shipping price slightly).

Please put your 'artist info' on the back of the card. Twenty years from now we want to know who made such a beautiful card!

Would anyone be interested in a swap where we would design a specific tarot card or cards for each other?

Some random ideas.......

I was thinking that we could start with just the majors (first 22 cards) at first to narrow it down. Also, we should probably stick to one deck for card meanings/symbolism, like the Universal Rider-Waite deck. Not to limit your meanings but there are a million different decks out there and this one is the most well-known/universal of the bunch.

We could choose which card we would want illustrated or (if you're a 'reader') you could choose for your partner--that would be up to the two of you.

Oh yeah! And you don't need to know the tarot to join. There are hundreds of websites out there with card meanings and such or a partner may be able to help too. I can always lend a hand with meanings as well!

FYI- I have never organized a swap and would be willing but depending on the response I may need a helper!
