2  Drawings from Design 1 - pic heavy in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by vanessow on: March 11, 2010 06:42:57 AM
Here are a couple experiments from my design class that i just finished (believe it of not, my first art class ever, but i was mostly self taught before that)
a test before I did my final, which I did it stipling, which is wayyy nicer looking than my crosshatching, but I don't have a picture of it yet.

3  Vintage Pencil Roll in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by vanessow on: January 07, 2010 06:54:16 AM
My Grandma gave me a boatload of vintage fabrics from the 70's/80's (so some of them are garish, and unwearable..)

But I am in an art class and decided that instead of digging through my pencil bag trying to find stuff, I would make a pencil roll.

5  Painting - Alice in wonderland/Through the looking glass in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by vanessow on: November 06, 2009 06:42:57 PM
I joined the book club, and our group's book was Alice's adventures in wonderland and Through the looking glass.

I started drawing this up before realizing the scope of it - I decided that not only would it be awkward/spendy to ship, but it might be a little bit above a medium/small, after putting about 30 hours into it.(instead of homework, but who's counting.) anyway - here are the original sketch up and the painting.

The painting is from my phone - i didn't want to charge my batteries for my digital camera.

6  My Bathroom in Halloween Decor and Parties by vanessow on: October 18, 2009 02:45:52 PM
So.. I didn't really create anything here. I received two plastic beakers full of candy, got rid of the candy and filled them with soaps, popped a pump in of them and called it good - I also have two thick glass bottles i received as a gift, one has soap, the other has red bath balls in it, and there is an empty beaker for flowers. Of course, the two bloody handprints, and a bunch of mixed pillars.

I think the pillars are a bit strange looking - all of my pillars are the same diameter for some reason, and most of them are the same height.  It's kind of creepy.

anyways.. here it is.. and yes, my bathroom is bright red

7  Star Wars Grocery bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by vanessow on: September 27, 2009 08:53:53 PM
I am trying to make a bunch of christmas presents. one of my best friends is male, and hard to shop for. I bought some fabrics of his favorite things (star wars, the beatles, transformers) with the intent of making him some grocery bags and maybe a ditty bag, but after some rhetorical probing, i was feeling uneasy about them.. (I'll just have to off-put the girliness of the gifts with some home made chocolates and candy.

here is my first grocery bag, modeled after the smaller bags - this fabric was limited. Also - it is full of fabric  because it is pretty lightweight, so it looks a bit lumpy!

8  Cult-Classic Royalty - Ash The King and Princess Zelda in Stenciling: Completed Projects by vanessow on: August 27, 2009 09:01:02 PM
The Ash shirt is fabric paint - White on Orange, I put too much on and the paper started to stick to the paint, so it looks weird. Plus I used freezer paper as both a stencil and to keep it from bleeding to through, so I think that had something to do with the reaction of the paper. (Also - the flash kind of makes it look like there is a shadow - that's not there.)

10  My first tshirt post - Dawn of the Dead in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by vanessow on: August 16, 2009 10:03:38 AM
I have been super inspired by all of the tshirt surgery sites out there. I finally got a good technique for bleach stencils, and It translates perfectly for fabric paint, minus the spray bottle.

I hate the necks on tshirts (fruit of the loom has especially tight necks) and I have found a very flattering cut on me, which I have been using on all of my blank shirt (square neck, scoop back, that way I can show off my tattoo. The neckline on this one didnt come out right, and the shirt itself is really long.

I am thinking about fabric painting lower and then hemming up, but I think I like having the band of zombies.
