Describe your Christmas tree (either now or from childhood) -- is it themed?  Feel free to chat about other trees you've admired over the years as well!

Growing up, it was always exciting to go and choose out a live Christmas tree each year!  My sisters and I would decorate the tree with an eclectic selection of ornaments including homemade ones and 'Baby's first Christmas' ornaments from our first Christmases.  My dad was very adamant about only having one strand of tinsel per branch (something I didn't fully appreciate until I was older).  One year, we even went out to a Christmas tree farm and chose which tree to chop down.  I remember being excited about the fact that we were in the mountains complete with snow!

When my Grandma was alive, she had a beautiful tree with themed ornaments (I think the theme was something like blue and silver).  I remember being very skeptical at the thought of a tree where all the ornaments were a certain color, but once it was fully decorated, I couldn't believe how gorgeous it looked!

Now that I'm married, we have a fake tree that my husband had before we met.  I'd like to get a real tree, but am always concerned about it drying out too soon (I like to get the tree up as soon as I can after Thanksgiving, though in many previous years, I end up getting it up much later than I'd like).  I decided on our honeymoon that ornaments would be the perfect thing to collect when we went on trips.  That way, when we put up the Christmas tree, we can remember the places we've been together.  My husband and I were married about a month and a half before Christmas, so we didn't have a lot of money to invest in ornaments and decorations.  We ended up buying some inexpensive ornaments and have been slowly replacing them with ornaments that are more personal.  My husband went down to a glass blowing place and made me a few ornaments for our first Christmas.  It was a very thoughtful gift that still makes me smile.  After my son was born, I decided that I wanted to make an ornament each year that included a picture of him, so that every year, we would look back and remember previous years, but I'm a few years behind Sad.  I'm hoping to make the past two year's ornaments as well as one for this year sometime between now and Christmas.

Went supply shopping today! Bought what I need for the stocking and parts of three projects. This is getting real!!
Ooh, I'm so excited!! I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do stocking-wise. What I do know is that when all is said and done, I plan on having a box full of goodies including stocking stuffers and some larger gifts as well!

I also received some fun flamingo art from EdelC!  I love how she blended the colors to make it look like they're flying over rolling hills!

I love how festive they make a place feel! Just seeing the stockings above the fireplace makes me want to snuggle up with a cup of hot chocolate!

That cake is amazing and the twins are so cute!

I'm not sure what I'll do for the stocking yet, but I'm starting to come up with some ideas for the stuffers!

Happy Halloween!!

Didn't manage to get the new costumes done for Halloween, so the girls were wearing their Superhero costumes from the Edinburgh Comic Con (April 2016).

(they were out "guising" (that's the Scottish Trick or Treating where they have to tell a joke, sing a song or do a dance before they get their treat)

What cuties!! I like the idea of guising vs just saying 'trick or treat!'

Here's a pic of my 3 year old lumberjack, complete with a homemade beard Smiley.

Happy Halloween!  Are any of you sporting hand crafted costumes today?  I know this is a Christmas swap, but it is Halloween today and I'd love to see your creativity!  Cheesy

I received today!! I really like this piece of art from Nikki (I'm not sure of her Craftster username). I'm a big fan of book page art. I like the bright colors she used and I love the text background! Thank you so much Nikki!
