1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Christmas Stocking Swap Rd. 10 Gallery on: December 17, 2014 11:57:23 PM
At last! I have a free moment to post pics (haha, I wrote that about 8 hours ago - that free moment didn't last very long)!  Life got crazy overnight, and then to top it off, I got sick  Sad.  But I am happy to report that I too have received a nice package from Sylvan that made my day merry & bright  Cheesy.  When I made her a TARDIS stocking, I thought to myself, 'wouldn't it be funny if she made me a TARDIS too?'  Well, lo and behold...

This was the first thing I saw when I opened the box and it put a huge smile on my face!  Somebody else mentioned how you can give us craftsters the same crafting 'assignment,' yet end up with so many different variations.  We both made TARDIS stockings, but they came out so different from each others.  Sylvan did a great job with the paneling on my stocking.  She had to wait a little while after her concussion before she could cut it out, but it worked out perfectly!

Included with the stocking were some bath dots, coasters, a slouchie beanie, and a 'floofy' scarf (her word, and the same exact one I would've used to describe it).  The hat is nice because it's lightweight and the scarf is really soft!  I like the color of the scarf, it will be perfect to dress up casual outfits.

Here's a close up of the coasters and bath dots.  I love the festive Christmas coloring of the coasters!  They can also be easily transformed into ornaments, so they're a kind of 2-for-1 crafted item.  The bath dots are really bright & colorful and there are so many of them!  They will definitely liven up my baby's bath time!  We already have some sticking to the shower wall that we used for counting while I gave him his bath tonight.

Sylvan wrapped quite a few of my gifts in these fabric bags!  They are way better than gift bags because once they get wrinkled, instead of throwing them out, they just need to be ironed and they can be reused again and again (I want to wrap gifts in them this Christmas, but I don't want to give them up, I want keep them to wrap gifts in EVERY year! Lol).  She also made me 6 pairs of earrings!  Baby boy is not quite beyond the 'grab anything dangling within his reach' stage, but I look forward to wearing these earrings once he is Smiley.

My husband is quite the handyman, so Sylvan made him some tool shaped chocolates!  I'm going to save these for his stocking, but I know he'll love them, they're perfect for him!

Sylvan also included a dozen hand made cards (complete with envelopes) for various occasions!  You may notice there are only 11 in the pic; that's because I'd already used my favorite one for my sister's birthday before I took a pic - and since I took the pic, I've used another one for a package I'm shipping out.  These are so handy to have around, I love them!

I was happy to see that she had made me two washcloths and delighted to realize they were Doctor Who washcloths!  I've never been excited over washcloths before!  I'm very impressed with her ability to knit the Cyberman and Dalek designs into the cloths!  I don't know anything about knitting, but that seems pretty hard to me.

As for the purchased items, Sylvan included some tasty maple cookies and Ghirardelli peppermint chocolate squares.  I've never had these cookies before (maybe because I've never been to Canada), they taste like a maple donut (which made me realize, I haven't tasted very much maple - maple syrup doesn't even have a very maple-y taste in comparison to these cookies).  As for the Ghirardelli squares, I'm very glad she included them.  They're one of my favorite Christmas treats, but I hadn't had any this year.  She also included some foam ornaments that I think I'll make with my 4 year old nephew, he always wants to craft with me  Smiley.  She also sent a notebook that I've already been making good use of!

Lastly, Sylvan sent this really neat gourd Santa ornament.  She bought it at a store run by a Mennonite church that sells hand made items from around the world.  It's very detailed and makes a beautiful addition to our tree!

Thank you so much for taking me on as your second partner Sylvan!  I really enjoyed crafting for you as well as receiving all the goodies you sent!  I'm just sad the swap is over!

This is amazing!  I am in definite awe of your stitching skills!  I'm going to pin this right now and hope that one day someone will make one for me  Grin.
3  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Christmas Stocking Swap Rd 10 (SU to Oct 3/14;SO Dec 1/14) on: December 02, 2014 01:24:07 PM
Our post office was CRAZY yesterday as well!  I got there a half hour before closing, and ended up leaving after they had closed!
My house looks like a craft explosion went off! I'm hoping to clean the house and get the Christmas decorations up within the next few days  Smiley.  I was unable to make the small extra that I wanted to include, but I did try my hand at something new on Sunday night/early morning and am very happy with how it came out!  I'm also pleased with the stocking and really hope my partner likes it!

Darn it!  In my excitement to create one of my projects, I forgot one of the steps and as a result, messed it up.  The good news is that the damage seems to be minimal, the bad news is that it is NOT the amazingness I had hoped for (and I can't redo the project because I purchased the last remaining item at the store and it is not a reusable item)!  Sad

I just finished a something this morning and am currently working on another something.  I'm trying to use all the time I can find, since having a molar-teething baby means I'm never guaranteed when I'll have a chance to work on stuff.  I'm going to rethink one of the items I was planning on making, although I'm not sure what I'll do instead... I'll have to check my list of ideas.  I have yet to make the stocking, but I have a plan and am excited about the final product  Cheesy.

Wow Onyxnox, the tags you made are so detailed and beautiful!  I have to agree with dharma_rebel, your paper crafting skills are amazing!

I received the last of my tags last night from gala_apples.

Thank you for the six tags Gala!  The sweater tag is cute and just might be my fave of the bunch (although the 'cheer' tag is a close second)!!  I'm excited to start wrapping presents!

Thank you all for a really fun swap!

I received some beautiful tags from Kaz814!

The hard part is choosing a favorite!  I love them all and want to put them on my own presents under the tree!   Grin

Ooooooh - good idea - I just found out about the frixion pens myself recently for fabric - ironing makes them disappear completely - the only problem with gift giving in the winter is that the cold makes the marks reappear

Good to know about the cold! Thank you for sharing that!!

Those fabric tags are neat!  I like that you can use the frixion erasable pens and reuse them year after year (assuming the receiver would be willing to return such a nice tag  Wink).

Ooh, I love all the tags so far!  I received my tags from Gina1gr8mom a little bit ago, but I forced myself to finish making hers before opening the envelope.  I am very happy with the six tags I received!

I love all the extra details on each tag, like the charm hanging on the bicycle tag, the embossed metallic background on the vintagy purple tag, the owl  on the 'open first' music tag, all the shiny glaze on the wish tag and the bird's nest on the bird tag!  This year will be my son's first Christmas at home (he was in the hospital last year), and I love the special tag Gina made for him!  It is one that I will definitely use over and over again each year!  Thank you so much Gina!!
