2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / creative storage / shelving advice on: April 22, 2006 09:13:23 AM
well... my landlord kicked me out of my spacious apt... and i had to find an apt real quick. i found one that was in good shape, same neighborhood, and same price!

but... IT'S SUPER SMALL! and there is NO closet space.

AND my landlord doesnt want me to put anything in the walls... like those AWESOME shelving elfa things from container store would have been PERFECT. but NO, she wont let me do that.

i have several boxes of clothes, and other stuff that are still in boxes and just sitting on the floor.  i have some craft supplies that are in boxes, and sitting on the floor.

any help would be welcomed....

any ideas on how to install shelving that will cause minmal damage to the wall?
any other storage solutions?

thanks people!!
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / magnetic paint? on: November 16, 2005 07:04:14 PM
hi... i just read that there is such a thing as magnetic paint... and i think this is the best invention ever!

it's both 'chalkboard' and 'magnetic.' after the paint dries, you can draw w/ chalk or stick magnets to it.

i heard there is a spray kind, and that didnt get too many good recommendations.
but htere are also kinds that you can paint on with a paint brush, or roll on.

which brands do you recommend?
how good are they at being magnetic?
what color does it come out? will it be hideous?

thanks!

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Hookers Have More Fun! ;) on: June 25, 2005 04:15:56 PM
Hello all!

one of the posters here on craftster put up a link to her site for a cool article on the "cult of knit" and a cool crochet stencil. here it is:

http://www.eyhom.com/crochet.html

so this weekend was the Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn, New York. I made this shirt for myself and 2 of my friends specifically to be worn at the craft fair. here we are:

i'm the one in the pink shirt. i just made the stencil using an exacto knife on manila folder. i used crayola fabric markers (which i do not like using, next time i'll use paint). i made the black shirts for my friends. they are just black cotton shirts. on theirs, i used a bleach pen to do the stencil. it was my first time using a bleach pen. again, i think next time i'll just use paint. but everyone seemed to love them, and everyone kept asking if i was selling them. hmm... gotta talk that over with the original stencil maker.

needless to say, we got a lot of giggles from people who appreciate crafting and crochet... some dirty looks from knitters. and the usual "awwww, HELL YEAH! sup shorty!" from guys.

the stencil rocks! it was fun!
enjoy!

hello all...
i think spring is finally here in the new york metro area...

i dont know if this is the right place to put it but...
as it's spring there should be more fests and all that...
anyone know of any places in the new york area to see a wool / fiber show or at least some kind of fair / fest thing that would have fiber/ spinning merchants? and guild people around? i'd like to purchase some roving and learn how to spin.

thanks!

here is a little case /cozy i made for the digital cam as the store did not have any real ones in stock. this is made with sugar n cream, dont know what color. done in hdc

these next 2 are those popular cloche hats from beppy cat's pattern. my friends loved them so these are going to my good friend( made with a pretty peach/melon color in red heart acrylic), and another( this is baby homespun by lionbrand, got for super cheapt at a discount store here in Astoria, NY)  who lives across the country and asked for one.

10  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / tunisian crochet wrist bands on: May 21, 2005 05:34:38 AM
hello all....
i bet you are all sick of my freakin skulls, but i think i will stick to this tunisian crochet stuff

these wrist bands were done in the tunisian crochet stitch! i think they look really sharp, and i think i will wear THESE more often. Smiley

i used worste weight acrylic yarn... i chained about 25, then worked the rows and worked in the skull pattern. i just dropped the yarn when i had to switch a color... i can't figure out how to carry the other color of yarn along... if anyone has suggestions, i'd greatly appreciate it. Smiley

sorry for the crappy pics.... i'll be getting a real digi cam in a couple of week! (yay! i'm graduating!!!)

ok.
enjoy!
