6  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: A word of warning about sugar scrubs on: May 01, 2006 06:31:32 PM
bugs hate

tea tree oil

and you can mix it with lavendar oil and it will be ok.

also... i like to use epsom salts insead of sugar. it's got similar texture and exfoliates well. you can get it in the drug store.

i feel you about the bugs!! argh! i live in nyc so i'm very cautious of anything i use. and have to clean everything all the time! so using sugar is a no no for things like that!
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / creative storage / shelving advice on: April 22, 2006 09:13:23 AM
well... my landlord kicked me out of my spacious apt... and i had to find an apt real quick. i found one that was in good shape, same neighborhood, and same price!

but... IT'S SUPER SMALL! and there is NO closet space.

AND my landlord doesnt want me to put anything in the walls... like those AWESOME shelving elfa things from container store would have been PERFECT. but NO, she wont let me do that.

i have several boxes of clothes, and other stuff that are still in boxes and just sitting on the floor.  i have some craft supplies that are in boxes, and sitting on the floor.

any help would be welcomed....

any ideas on how to install shelving that will cause minmal damage to the wall?
any other storage solutions?

thanks people!!
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / magnetic paint? on: November 16, 2005 07:04:14 PM
hi... i just read that there is such a thing as magnetic paint... and i think this is the best invention ever!

it's both 'chalkboard' and 'magnetic.' after the paint dries, you can draw w/ chalk or stick magnets to it.

i heard there is a spray kind, and that didnt get too many good recommendations.
but htere are also kinds that you can paint on with a paint brush, or roll on.

which brands do you recommend?
how good are they at being magnetic?
what color does it come out? will it be hideous?

thanks!
9  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool New York on: September 28, 2005 05:54:19 AM
hey!

Anyone going to Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool Festival, NY?

http://www.sheepandwool.com/

I live in NYC and do not own a car.

How does one get there?
Has anyone been there? What did you think?

10  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / Re: Michael's in NYC?! on: August 11, 2005 04:55:20 AM
the ride to the Micheal's in Queens is not bad:

take the R train to Northern Boulevard.

Walk in the direction of the Sports Authority.
Keep walking, Turn left at the Duane Reade. you'll see it. can't miss it. Smiley
