What nice packages and pretty 'thank you' gifts.

My 'thank you' gift just arrived, but a letter full of stamps arrived first. I unfortunately don't have pictures of the stamps but I do have some of the gift. It's awesomely made.

Kitty was no match for the Dalek

Here is a closer shot of the candy. I already ate some of the little packets of gummy bears.

Thanks again Ruby!

I'm lucky that both my partners are awesome and sent me some really cool gifts.  Grin

Project Name: Dagobah Terrarium
Team/Geekdom:  Of Ships & Men
Project Geekdom (if any): Starwars
Bonus Points:  Fandom
Brief Description: So with plants still alive I would call try two a success. I wanted to make a swampy terrarium, but it's more just very moist.

And a final submission before the timer runs out....

Challenge: "I have got to get me one of these!"
Project Name: AT-AT Planter
Team/Geekdom:  Of Ships & Men
Project Geekdom (if any): Starwars

Brief Description: There was a book called The Starwars Crafting Book that had a planter that look like an AT-AT walker. Super cute so I gave it a go. Huge body and little head but it works for now.

And they are here!

I would have had them on the shelf, but were painting the walls and there are none up. But I love them and I will find a home for them soon.

Challenge/Battle/Alert: MAY Randomizer
Team: Of Ships and Men
Project Geekdom (if any): Star Wars
Bonus Points: Discovery, Nerdy, Super Nerdy
Project Name: Jabba the Pug

Brief Description: I have been looking to learn embroidery so joined a hoopla along for motivation and ideas. Super fun start was picking things you love: I love pugs and Star Wars, and together we have ... Jabba the Pug

I did him on a old place mat that worked nice to stitch on. I learned the French Knot and the Chain Stitch. Super fun to learn. Helpful to see it on video tuts.

Then I'll frame him up nice after a good cleaning.

Mine is all stitched and ready to show.

I have a love of pugs, all sizes, and he's a big one, thus Jabba.

I only did a few French knots but I really wanted to figure them out cause I thought that they would work best for little whisker freckles.

8  First Time Diaper Cake in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by Monty on: May 26, 2013 06:24:25 PM
I had a baby shower to go to for a co-worker so I thought that it would be fun to try a diaper cake.
The person throwing the shower suggested getting more people in on it because they can get expensive.
She was right!! Baby stuff ain't cheap and diapers can add up. I have no kids and had no clue the cost! So there's one tip there, budget at least $50 for a jazzy, sizable cake.

This is the rough finished project.

I started with the swirl base, really gave me a big bottom to start on.
I used a cut up cereal box as a guide to work out the diapers in.
Then make sure you have some really big elastics to fit. I had to tie mine together.

This is half-way done.
You can't see it but in the middle is a cardboard tube to tie things around.
I started using the roll method to make the others layers.
The ribbon hides the elastic and add the extras and you have a diaper cake.

9  Re: Matchbox Swap 7 (SO 3/30) in The Swap Gallery by Monty on: April 08, 2013 08:06:21 AM
Check out my matchbox from VegasZombie! She went with the nature theme.

Love the tiny flowers. So well done. And the little trees.

Here it is opened; look how stuffed it is!

Kitty thought that she could have some fun with all those little beads.
Thanks to VegasZombie. Love it. Especially the string of pearls!

Check out the awesome matchbox that Onyxnox sent me. She decided to go with the Mad Hatter theme. Love how she went about it!

Awesome quote on the bottom. Whenever I read/watch Alice in Wonderland they can sound slightly sinister. Makes it interesting.

Check out the swag I scored. I really enjoy the "hand made" items and the necklace pendant.

Thank you so very much, Onyxnox.
