I have always loved stashing things in secret places (maybe cuz I had to hide my allowance from my brother when we were kids?) so I wanted a hollowed out book that was pretty on the inside, but would blend in with the rest of my books on the outside. I thought it was going to be hard for me to destroy a book, but actually once I got going it was fun and I felt no guilt. In fact I got a bit addicted to making these and am starting a third one today. Paper crafts aren't my usual method of crafting so these are a bit simplistic and have a few goofs, but each mistake is a learning experience. They're basically held together with lots and lots and lots of mod podge. So much mod podge that the covers wouldn't close all the way and I had to stick some ribbon in them to hold them closed, but when they are on the shelf between other books they stay closed fine and I'm sure that after being wedged in there for a while they'll stay that way. I hope.
Close up of the 2nd book cuz the gnome makes me smile:
(that reddish dot on the mushroom is a piece of fuzz that accidentally got mod podged in but I was able to pick it out
The whole book. It needs something more above the mushrooms but I haven't figured out what:

Thanks for looking! Oh, if anyone has any ideas for finishing the gnome book, let me know. I'm kind of at a dead end with it and that one is a going to be a gift.
