I received my quilting kit from Just Plain Goose yesterday.  It is a quilting kit and she did a GREAT job not just on the kit but an answering all my questions that I have had about quilting.  She printed out an instruction book with pictures she took in making a mini quilt for me of the same pattern JUST WONDERFUL.  She got the colors and the patter perfect!  Thank you so much

Here is everythign in the kit!

note the already cut pieces, the matched thread and pins!  LOVE AND NEEDED IT ALL!

And here is the BEAUTIFUL sample quilt she made for me.  I am going to hang it!  Measures about 11.5 by 13.5!

46  Re: 100 Facts About Me #2 in The Swap Gallery by nostephot on: March 09, 2010 06:33:33 AM
I received from AikiBookworm today and she absolutely hit the nail on the head for me!  I love everything....
Here is the pic

Here is her note on how she decided.... With my notes on how perfect it is!!!

The fleur-de-lys necklace:

For the fact: "95.   Favorite patterns…. Dots, scroll work, fleur de lis, argyle, geometric  and stylized patterns."
This is a no Brainer for me!  I seem to buy anything and everything with a fleur de lis on it.... and have tons of stuff that I treasure and this will absolutely be added to that list... RIGHT AT THE TOP!

The Mardis Gras hair bandana:

For facts:  "16.   I grew up in New Orleans," "20.   I miss New Orleans all the time," "22.   I will be in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and I am taking 2 weeks off for it!," "71.   I do not like having hair in my face."
Since I work from home there are many days that I have my hair in a bandana.... and this is so cute and so useful that I will be using it a ton.... perfect for days that I am really missing home!

The Elvis cross stitch AND the tourist papers from Memphis:

For facts:  "85.   I love Elvis," "86.   I went to Graceland in 2005 (while being evacuated from NOLA because of Katrina) and loved it."

The Elvis cross stitch I sort of MacGyver'd by adapting the chart for a cheesy 80's style sweater knitting patter I found in a library book.  It was what I chose for the medium item (freakin tiny chart and freakin tiny gauge cloth... *headache*).  LOL
Little did she know that I have been wanting to do an Elvis Cross stitich but could not find one that I liked that I thought was a fair price.... and taking the time that she did means a lot!  The back is SO CLEAN!  I am never that clean in the back of my work!  Just wonderful... I am going to chart it and save it for myself in case I need to make another!  IT will be mounted and put in a very special place!

The Elvis storage bag:

For facts:  "85.  I love Elvis," and, "41.   I live in an apartment."
This is my fave Elvis fabric and I have been able to resist buying it!  And this is so well made and useful!  I love it and know I will use it often!

The green face cloth made of soft yarn:

For facts:  "54.   I love to give myself facials and try to do it once a week," and, "79.   I love greens, oranges, yellows."
This is SUPER soft and I have never used anything like this before.... so I am looking forward to using it!  I have a feeling I will love it!

The soft, thick, 3 strand Mardis Gras colors hat:

Because the news kept talking about how cold it was a Mardi Gras this year and for facts:  ""16.   I grew up in New Orleans," "20.   I miss New Orleans all the time," "22.   I will be in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and I am taking 2 weeks off for it!," "71.   I do not like having hair in my face."
AND, "70.   I have never seen real snow" -- now, you'll have a good winter hat for when you do!
SERIOUSLY!  Mardi Gras was so cold this year.... and I had a hat but this one was quite a ton warmer... PERFECT for next year... I will be the coolest person at the parades next year!  Just so adorable!

I LOVE EVERYTHING AND COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER PARTNER!!!!  Kiss Kiss Kiss Grin

49  Re: 50 Projects 2010 in Craftalongs by nostephot on: January 05, 2010 08:36:14 PM
OK so I got my first project done.... I made a wool messenger bag based on a tute I found a month or so ago.

The link to my project ( I was so proud I started a thread on it to get some critiques.. I am a novice sewer!)
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=333190.msg3848137

But here is a pic of the front so you get an idea....

I am thinking of adding buttons on the front but I love it so much right now I am just going to leave it for a bit!
One down 49 to go! Smiley

50  My first big bag! Wool Messenger Bag! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by nostephot on: January 05, 2010 08:10:13 PM
So I am doing this 50 projects for 2010.  I am not sure why but I decided to attack what I had initially thought was project far beyond my capabilities but I did it!  And I could not be happier!

I found this tutorial on Emily's So Much For My Plans blog:  http://somuchformyplans.blogspot.com/2009/09/mail-bag-tutorial.html

And I thought... I really like this and I have that awesome coat wool that I think would be perfect to use!

So I took  my chances on using the gray wool that I was coveting and I could NOT BE HAPPIER!  I honestly did not think I could do it!

This is the front

This is the inside of the bag... I figured out how to make the pockets out of the lining ( I know not complicated for sewers but I was proud of myself)

This is the pocket I made on the front... has velcro closure and it is folded so it is expandable!

Ok so I know that this may not be a huge deal for some experienced sewers but for me I could not be more excited!  It is 18 inches long and 15 inches wide.... the strap is probably too long but it is perfect being across the body which I like to do!

I am VERY open for comments and criticisms!  I am still learning!
