371  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Cascade 220 hat pattern? on: December 11, 2004 10:30:01 AM
I'm knitting hats for my two brothers for Christmas and I'm running out of time. I have to have them done before I leave for a trip. Does anybody have a quick knit pattern for a hat using Cascade 220? I would appreciate the help.

thanks,
Roe

372  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Quick Knitting and Crocheting Projects for the Holidays, post your faves! on: December 07, 2004 08:24:05 PM

*I have heard of the book Last Minute Knitted Gifts or something (is that what it's called?) does anyone know if this is any good

I have this book and I'm a beginner knitter. I must say I like it. It list projects by how long it will take and they are all fairly easy to make. I would recomend it. But watch where you buy it if you do. I bought it at Barnes and Noble for full price, $25 and I guess TJ Max had it for ten dollars- ugh!

I'm looking forward to making the leg warmers and the hand/wrist warmers.

happy knitting,
Roe

Thank you! I just ordered them and can't wait to get started. I can't tell you how much time I have wasted on searching for those. I am so glad I asked.

thanks agian,

Thanks, I'll give it a try and I'll stop looking for the 8". I wonder why they suggest them in the book?

Hi I just want to introduce myself. I am very new to the knitting game. I was so happy to stubble upon this post. I have already found lots of answers to many of my questions.  I look forward to lots of discussions. I don't really know anybody who knits right now. I have taught myself and two other friends to knit and am hoping I haven't done so incorrectly.
Before I go, I do have one question. I am about to start a pair of hand/wrist warmers from the Knitted Gifts book and it asks for two 8" circular needles size US 6. I haven't been able to find circular needles smaller than 12" and those are even hard to find. Can somebody let me know if these even exist. I know I can use double pointed needles but i haven't mastered them yet and I'm a little afraid to try.

thanks,
Roe

I too am new to the knitting world. In fact this is my very first post. I am not exactly young but I wouldn't call myself a grandma either. I find that no matter where  I go to knit, someone will make the granny comment. I just laugh it off. I've come to the conclusion that people will make their judgements and that's fine with me. I'm happy knitting and when they say "where'd you get that cool scarf?", I can proudly say, "I knitted it!"

I found this post in hopes that I can meet some fun people who can help me out with all my questions. I look forward to chatting with you all!
