1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / speedball kit videos on: March 31, 2005 12:20:03 PM
I thought you guys might find this useful. It's videoblogging week 2005 (there's a whole community of videobloggers if you didn't know, haha) Anyway, Rene over at Luxomedia is making a series of how-to silkscreen videos (with the speedball photoemulsion kit) for videoblogging week. They are WAY WAY AWESOME.

so far, she's done:
Day I - buliding a frame
Day II - more frame building
Day III - designing and exposing the screen

and there's more to come! check it out: http://www.luxomedia.com/blog/
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / director's gift? on: February 15, 2005 07:50:28 PM
One of the teachers at my work is also part of a production company. He's producing/directing a comedy theater act in Hollywood and he invited us to go see it Friday night.

I want to bring some kind of gift for him, to send backstage when my co-worker and I get there. It can be non-crafty or crafty (but simple since I only have a few days left). Nothing too large, or fancy, just a small "token of appreciation/good luck" type thing. Any ideas?

(He's also got the most gorgeous blue eyes in the entire galaxy and beyond, but that's besides the point. Grin)
3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / shirt boards? on: January 28, 2005 10:47:13 PM
Hey all,

My sister, mom, and I are starting a business designing/making nurse scrubs. We've got a little question.

We're looking for cardboard shirt inserts. You know, when you buy a nice dress shirt from the men's department, it's got that cardboard sheet inserted to make it stiff? Where can you find a supplier for those? I tried a google search, but it just came up with directions for painting on shirts that recommended putting in cardboard so the paint wouldn't seep through.  Undecided

Does anyone else know what I'm talking about here or am I just insane? Thanks in advance.
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / cards and mini cakes! on: December 28, 2004 12:46:36 PM
For my coworkers this year, I made them each a little card and a mini 4" double layer chocolate fudge cake. The cards were really simple to make, but the cakes took FOREVER. (I'd never baked/frosted cakes before, and ironically, I thought it'd be a piece of cake. hardy har har)

The front of the card featured an embossed snowflake and the recipient's name.

The inside. blah blah blah.

This is what each of the cakes looked like (placed inside the box already)

...and this is the whole finished package, yay!

*x-posted on glitter, sorry.
