1  Jean Skirt w/ tute in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by pangeafingers on: June 15, 2010 01:42:15 PM
Okay, well this is my first topic haha so bear with me. I just made a new jean skirt for my back-to-school wardrobe. I reconstructed it out of a pair of my mom's old stretch jeans.
This is what it looks like:

Sorry about my hands, I had to take the pic with the webcam and it shoots fast.

Basically what I did was I cut off the first foot of each leg of the jeans, then used a seamripper and made them into two large panels. Then I measured my waist and hips and cut it down to size, then sewed the panels together. The part of the jeans that I cut that was already hemmed at the bottom went on the bottom, and the other edge I used a zigzag stitch to finish. And, since they were stretch jeans, I didn't need any troublesome zippers and whatnot. Voila!

Oh, and both panels were stitched wierd-I zigzagged down both seams, and then used a running stitch on the inside of the first stitch  to secure it and it's holding up great!
