What an awesome idea!  I am terrible at sewing, so I don't think i will even attempt something like this, but maybe I can tempt my sister into doing it for me!   Tongue

Our first meeting went well...was so nice to be able to put a face with a online name!

Is everyone available for meeting once a month for now on Thursday nights?  We were thinking it would be nice to rotate through everyone's house.  As soon as I hear back from everyone, we can schedule a date.

Sincerely,
Whitney

I have taught myself how to knit and I am going to be taking the learn to knit class at the Knit Nook either on the 13th or the 29th of September.  The cost of the class is $35 and it includes yarn and needles.  Does anyone have a preference for either date?  I was thinking it would be nice to meet there and that way we can talk and decide what we want to do after the class.  Let me know what you think.

Sincerely,
Whitney

Dear Sparkle:

What kind of crafting do you do?  I was thinking of having the first meeting at the Knit Nook, maybe for one of their fabulous new knitting classes and discuss things at that point.

Thank you so much for the welcome.  I moved here 2 years ago and have been busy with school and work and have not been able to get out and meet many people my own age.

I was in a craft group in MA and it was awesome!  So much fun to just get together and work on whatever it was we were doing and every so often we would find a craft everyone wanted to do and we would all get together to do that one specific craft.

Can't wait to hear from others who want to join this type of group in Louisville!
496  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Re: Afghans for Angels on: August 19, 2005 09:50:03 AM
Thank you so much for your wonderful help!  We are dying for volunteers to make blankets since we are starting out and need to get a steady supply of blankets coming in so that we can supply all of the hospitals we have contacted.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

Our chapter in Louisville does not have an actual website yet, I am working on it as we speak.  Another chapter has a website at www.afghansforangels.com, but our chapter does things a little differently than they do since we are just starting out.

“Afghans for Angels” is an organization made up completely of volunteers who make and distribute baby blankets to local hospitals to give to parents who have suffered the loss of their infant through miscarriage, stillbirth or
infant death.

"Afghans for Angels" is looking for volunteers to help create these blanket gifts.  Blankets only need to be 2 feet square. Smaller and larger sizes are accepted also!  The "fetal demise pouch" pattern is also a nice alternative to a standard blanket for our tiniest angels.  These loving blankets will hug Angels from Preemies up to Full Term. If you can crochet, knit, sew, quilt, or decorate purchased blankets, we would LOVE to have your help!

Our “Afghans for Angels” are placed lovingly around these infant angels when they are held by their families for the brief time in which bittersweet hellos and sad good-byes are said. The parents are then allowed to keep these afghans as a token of remembrance of their baby. Just having something soft to hold is often comforting.

We want to acknowledge that these parents did have a baby. Though their child did not live long; we do not want to diminish the fact that they were, and will continue to be, the parents of this “Forever Baby."

Does anyone know where I can find this particular screenshot of Mario?  I have looked all over for one and haven't found one of him in mid-air jumping over the pipe that I could use psp to cut down to size.  If you could help that woudl be so great.
