Cute, I like the ribbon details. I love making simple skirts like this too - instant glee!

3  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Expiry? on: April 29, 2009 07:05:10 PM
Hi All,

I just recently decided to try dyeing a few bits and pieces (a cotton top and skirt with Dylon). I have WAY more dye than I need (it's in liquid form), so is there a way to store it? Does it go off or lose its effectiveness? Should I put it in the fridge?

Thanks!
4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Bias Tape? on: April 14, 2009 03:02:36 PM
Hello,

Could someone please explain to me what bias tape is? I don't quite understand what its purpose is!

Also, does anyone know where a good tutorial for making elastic waistbands might be? I almost get it, but I'd like a plain english tutorial just to make sure...the one in my sewing book might as well be Swahili for all I understand it.

Thank you =)
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Tailoring? on: March 13, 2009 04:26:57 PM
Hello,

I've been sewing for about a year, just casually, and I like to make dresses. The only problem is that I don't know how to tailor them! I sort of just figure it out by myself (probably in the most ass-backwards way imaginable) but things generally end up wonky and I get very frustrated.

Could anyone point me towards a good, plain English tutorial on how to tailor clothes to yourself (this is the essential part - I can fit clothes to other people, but pinning myself is just too confusing!!!)??

Thanks so much!
