1  Re: Make-a-Friend Round 7 -- Summer 2011 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by NessaMcTastic on: July 11, 2011 09:35:59 AM
I got my package from my partner! I was surprised at how fast it got here.  Cheesy
This is a super cute bag she made me with two pockets inside.

I also got two hanks of her mom's hand spun/dyed yarn (the black and green), some random balls of yarn, and four large pieces of fabric!

Thanks Missie! I feel spoiled.

2  Link and Zelda Valentine's Cross Stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by NessaMcTastic on: July 04, 2011 12:10:47 PM
I whipped these two little guys up as a Valentine's Day present three years ago. I thought they were lost forever but I finally found them. The pattern is not an original but I can't remember where or who I got it from. I think Craft: Magazine's blog featured it? Hope you enjoy!

3  Bird is the word in The Swap Gallery by NessaMcTastic on: June 14, 2011 09:00:22 AM
I got my hoop from jcorn and it's FANTASTIC!  Grin I love the blue jays she whipped up and I am amazed at the teensy stitches she used.

I'm very impressed at how clean the back is. Thanks again, jcorn! You rock.

Package #1

I got my package from Missie about a week ago. I just moved into a new apartment out of state so it's taken me forever to catch an OK internet signal. That being said, a lot of her stuff has coincided nicely with moving in.

1. Box of frozen ice pops (not pictured) we ate these our first day. Smiley
2. Box of Kleenex with a hula girl on them, also not pictured. Very cute and used our first day since my husband and I are dying of allergies here in TN.
3. Magnetic dry erase board. Husband confiscated that and is using it at work so it's also not pictured, sorry!
4. Kerroppi pencils and notebook. She loves frogs and I love anything Hello Kitty so it's a win-win.
5. Some cat treats and catnip mice for my cat Little Jerry Seinfeld. I think this is a present to Jerry from her dog, though. Wink
6. Hibiscus embroidered hand towels which are up in both of our bathrooms. The master bath has a sea/underwater theme so it goes really well!
7. Vaseline lip balm
8. A mini tin of altoids (I'll probably craft something with the tin when I'm done with the mints!)
9. Scentsy car freshener in her favorite smell. I like it too!
10. A cute pair of socks
11. Zebra print pencil case.
12. A box of fruit teas, also one of my favorites. As I was unwrapping each gift my husband was commenting how similar Missie and I are.
13. Hand sanitizer.

Thanks for spoiling me Missie! I'm working on package number two and I hope you like it. It's going to be mostly handmade, unlike box 1 which was 100% purchased.

5  Adventure Time rubber stamp in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by NessaMcTastic on: May 24, 2011 01:34:35 PM
I made an Adventure Time stamp of Finn!

I didn't like the way his facial features came out so I decided to get rid of them and just doodle in expressions.

Hi Finn! by NessaMcTastic, on Flickr

I'm thinking of doing the whole cast of characters soon.

6  Crewel Flowers in Needlework: Completed Projects by NessaMcTastic on: May 17, 2011 08:56:27 AM
I'm packing up my apartment in preparations for a move out of state. As a result, I found this piece that I finished about two years ago.

This was from a kit I found at the local AC Moore. I was surprised to find a needlework kit that was cheap and cute. I've got to find a frame for this.

I'm not usually a flowers kinda gal but I like these. I'm happy to know that there are some kits out there that aren't totally lame.

7  Terrarium-o-rama in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects by NessaMcTastic on: May 06, 2011 06:27:32 PM
I live in a tiny apartment and my sister (also my neighbor) has claimed the small backyard as her domain. No biggie since I have plant commitment issues. So I decided to make a terrarium since I think they're infinitely cooler (she's my older sister and therefore, a booger) and low maintenance.

I also have a thing for collecting figurines so this is a great way to use them.

My cat, on the other hand, thinks it's dumb.

Buddha seems happy and that's all that matters.  Grin

8  Portal 2 Lemons Cross Stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by NessaMcTastic on: April 29, 2011 06:00:53 PM
Last night my husband finished playing "Portal 2" and the brainwave to make this cross stitch. The inspiration for this comes from [WARNING: SPOILER ALTERT!] Cave Johnson's last rant over the PA with Caroline/GlaDOS.

Here's a close up shot:

And a picture of the back:

I did this on the fly so the spacing is a little off. I feel like it needs a little something extra, but I'm not sure. Also, if there's enough interest, I can jazz it up and write up a pattern which would be posted here and possibly on my blog. I hope that other Portal 2 geeks get the joke.

9  Kool Aid Fruit Punch Sock Yarn in Dyeing: Completed Projects by NessaMcTastic on: April 27, 2011 08:48:07 AM
I won a sock dying kit about two years ago but I never got around to using it. I didn't like the colors the kit came with (shades of mud brown, really?) but I had heard of dying yarn with Kool Aid. My mom was super skeptical that it would work but it did!

Kool Aid Yarn by NessaMcTastic, on Flickr

It's three skeins of sock yarn, 100% wool. I used one packet of Kool Aid Fruit Punch for each skein and zapped it in the microwave for 2 minutes. The inside of the skeins are a lighter pink while the outsides absorbed more color. I kind of like how variegated it came out and that the three skeins are not uniform in color but still close enough to mesh well. I plan on knitting a baby sweater out of it.

Now if I could only get rid of the kool aid stains on my hands and countertop.  Undecided Suggestions?

10  Crib Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by NessaMcTastic on: April 20, 2011 11:12:30 AM
I made this crib quilt from a kit I got at AC Moore. This is my first time quilting.

Not sure what to do with this quilt since no one I knows has a kid and my cat has no interest in it.
