1  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Re: Anyone ever been to Rudolf Ramseyer's Traditional Tailoring Techniques class on: October 15, 2009 07:56:56 PM
I checked out the website and it seems pretty intense.  Did you end up taking the course?

No, I didn't. Due to demand for the course, I couldn't get a spot until a couple of months later and I thought by the time I attended the course, I would of learnt the techniques through my own trial and error anyways.

Hi,

Just bumping up this thread. Does anyone know of any places that sell middle range quality fabrics in Sydney? Something between Spotlight and Tessuti.

Thanks

Hi,

I'm looking for some sewing classes to attend and found this class at Surry Hills NSW.

http://rudolfcouture.com/wardrobe/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

It's $345 for 15 hours which is a lot of $$$.

So wanted to see whether anyone has attended this class and what do you think?

thanks

Hi there,

You can try this which is very similar to the Miu Miu skirt. It looks quite easy, all you need is a piece of fabric and some elastic.

Thanks, I had a look at the Eastern Suburbs Community College website and there is a one day sewing course on a Saturday in May.

Thanks for the reply.

My boyfriend didn't get the sewing machine from a dealer/shop. He got it from the online retailer www.dealsdirect.com.au and they don't offer any sewing lessons.

So far, I have been borrowing sewing books from the library and going on websites like Craftster, Patternreview and Burdastyle for information. It woul probably take longer for me to learn to sew this way but at the moment, I'll just have to mae do with what I've got.

Nice. The fabric makes an otherwise plain skirt into so much more.

Hi there,

I'm new to sewing.  Huh  Just got my sewing machine a couple of weeks and ago and I am desperately looking for sewing lessons around the Inner West Sydney area, (that is Lidcombe, Straithfield, Burwood, Ashfield). I work during the week and can only attend class on the weekends.

I have tried looking on the Internet but there was nothing near where I live. The only Spotlight that offers sewing lessons is in Liverpool and they don't even have the beginners sewing class.

I just need someone to guide me with the basics like teaching me how to use my machine and making a simple garment from a pattern.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks
