1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / hosting a craft fair on: March 12, 2009 12:48:52 PM
(this is my first time posting--I hope I follow all the rules! :  )
My parents have this large field that is bordered by shade trees with grass etc.. and very nice in the summer months. I have been toying with the idea of starting a small/intimate craft fair in the summer. I'm not sure how to go about advertising and getting people to sign up for a booth. I don't think I would charge a booth fee or anything for the first time. I just really want it to be small. My parents live in Santa Cruz, CA where there is a huge market for handmade/craft type things.
Has anyone ever had any experience with hosting a craft fair? Do i need to worry about liability or insurance? Couldn't it technically be a "yard sale" and that way I could get around the whole insurance thing? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
