41  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: Cat-Scratcher from recycled card board on: June 09, 2009 02:44:40 AM
I personally loved this idea on Design Sponge. The cats absolutely love it.

I made mine only 2 inches tall because I thought I'd run out of cardboard to wrap:

Thank you for sharing this awesome idea!! I just finished making one last night and my cats love it! I think I may have to make some more since they're quite a bit possessive of it (and that they're so aggressive when they play with it).

Instead of adding eyes and ears, I just gave them a face/head. I couldn't get the nose to be pointy either (I'm really not good at the whole sewing thing). I guess it turned out so flat because I didn't stuff it enough (with fabric scraps, that too).

But my kitties aren't complaining, and I still like it all the same. Grin

Excuse the sloppiness of my hand-sewing and the choice of fabrics (it looked better in my head):

They're lovely, you did a good job on them! Smiley

These are so cool! Whimsical and just pure fun. I can totally relate to the craft-craziness, hehe.
45  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Tiny book keychain on: May 14, 2009 02:28:34 PM
I actually made this last year. My sister got me a very cute, small but plain address box. So one day, I punched a hole, took out my scrapbooking stuff, dressed it up and converted into a keychain.

The silver ribbon that goes across the middle from the front to back is actually from an old birthday present; it effectively covers an ugly telephone icon on the front. The flower stickers are glow-in-the-dark and the “A” charm is one of the two that my sister and I bargained for at an exhibition a few years ago.

The shiny silver paper on the underside of the front and back covers (4th photo) is just more saved wrapping paper from past presents. The textured beige papers (2nd & 3rd photos)  are bits of sample wallpaper that my cousin and I collected in large amounts on a crazy whim from Office Depot.

So while it doesn’t look like much, it has a lot of sentiment attached to it. Now you also know how much of a pack rat I am.  Tongue

Those are awesome!  Were they hard to make?

Not at all! Each of these took about 1 1/2 - 2 hours to make (maybe even less!). Most of the time you're just folding or gluing. I made the two rolls first and then built the lid and container.

It looks amazing! Those colors are gorgeous.  Smiley

Beautiful, your journal is very inspiring. I love the inclusion of that envelope, what will be a future comic page and your art murals. So much creativity in just one book.

Thank you for sharing!

It looks very fun! The elastic cord sounds like a good idea for rings, I'll be sure to remember that next time. =)

They all look great, I especially love the first one. I liked how you used seed beads to space the cubes.
