Thank you!

Help a girl out?

I just CO and knitted the first 4 rows sts.  So far, so good.  Now, the directions read:

"Dec 1 st on each side next RS row"   Ok, so on my next row, I decrease on my first stitch and then... do I decrease the next stitch as I am purling back the next row?? Huh

"Every 6th row 4 times; then every 4th row 2 times"

OK, now I'm totally lost.

I love Firefly.  I never saw it when they initally aired it, but heard the buzz and borrowed the season on dvd from a friend.  So sad that it only had one season on air.  Sad

Love the hat!  What brand of yarn did you use?

OK, I caved.  I ordered it on Amazon.  It should be here in a few days.  And, even though I have no time for projects, my friend was complaining today that all of the little girl hats out there look like "I'm going to play in the snow!" instead of "it's a little chilly, think I'll wear a hat."  I think the little girl hat might have to happen between now and Christmas!

Thanks for posting the dimensions- my dogs are considerably larger than yours.  But, I think I can alter this... Hmmm....

Very cute!

Thanks everyone!

Yep, I did a swatch and measured it pre and post felt, so I think I am on the right track.  But, it just seemed so looooong.  Thanks Debbie for pointing out the doubling part and the instructions change part.  If I get stuck again I will definitely send you my questions!

I promise pics as soon as I get finished (which may take a bit, as I have a few other projects going too).

Has anyone tried these?  My husband saw them in the book and went crazy saying he needed a pair.  I played it off that they were too complex and I couldn't knit them- knowing that it would be fun to knit them on the sly and then surprise him for Christmas.

However, it's not going to smoothly.

My LYS didn't have the bulky, so I went with the worsted weight.  Did a swatch to get some idea of gauge.  Came across a problem- the pattern is only for a women's meduim, which my husband is not.  So, decided that the best thing to do would be to add an inch to the width and then increase the length by 4 inches total.

But, wow... I seem to be knitting something HUGE.  Not super wide but really really long.  This is my first felting project, so maybe I am over-reacting.  But, still!

Anyway, I have been lurking here for a few weeks and finally have a reason to post something.  Hopefully someone out there has attempted these and can give me some pointers!
