5  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Puerco Pibil? Yeah, I had no idea what it was either... on: February 04, 2011 06:33:37 PM
You can get Anchotie on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/El-Yucateco-Achiote-Red-Paste/dp/B0000GHNV8) if you have a local Hispanic market -- they will likely have it. I got seeds & paste at my local market. But when I lived in Vermont (not a lot of Hispanic markets there) Amazon was my source between trips to the city Smiley
6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Make Your Own Vanilla Extract *UPDATE* on: February 04, 2011 06:31:17 PM
I did this for Christmas this year too -- I used mid-grade vodka - it worked well (but I am not an expert) I also didn't filter it -- thinking that any vanilla specks would just make it more flavorful.
People loved it - I got the bottles at a local food co-op - they ordered them by the case for me and did cost +10%, so it was a deal.
7  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Homemade Chicken Pot Pie on: February 04, 2011 06:27:51 PM
I live in an area where the Moravians have their chicken pie -- with no veggies & a gravy that goes on the side-- it's pretty good. But this looks awesome & easy to make. Plus - the added bonus -- my kid might actually eat it!
8  UNITED STATES / North Carolina / Re: Hey Greensboro-let's do a craft night! on: February 04, 2011 06:23:31 PM
Hey hey - I don't know if you already did organize a craft night or not -- but I would be interested if something ever did get pulled together - I'm in Jamestown/High Point -- it would be great to connect!
