1  Re: Newbie Swap round 15 gallery! in The Swap Gallery by carmencrafter on: March 15, 2011 01:13:50 AM
Girls, I came home from work this evening and there was my fabulous package from KittyWampus!!  I opened it and this is what I saw...

The first item is a brown quilted cosmetic bag with a zipper and snap closure.  I asked for one of these on my swap questionnaire!!

Here's the lining. And there's even elasticized slots for my makeup brushes!!

My next item is a beautiful red pillow, which will go perfectly in my new red and white bedroom : ) Thanks Kitty!!

Look at the frog closures on my pillow!

Oh, I forgot to mention that my cosmetic bag was filled with some jewelry that Kitty made and a pretty notepad...

And on top of all that, she painted a gorgeous fish picture in a classic black frame!!!  I don't know how she knew, but I have two beta fish who I just adore.  This picture looks just like them!!

KittyWampus,  I absolutely love everything and I'm a very luck girl!  You have some serious talents!

2  Another denim knife- pleated clutch in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by carmencrafter on: July 22, 2009 11:58:19 AM
I told some of you before that I'm obsessed with knife pleating (and Craftster!!!).  I needed to feed my need for pleats, so I made another foldover denim clutch!!  This time, I made a matching fabric flower to embellish the front and added some gold metal buttons.  This is my first fabric flower and I like how it turned out, especially the frayed edges.

The front:

The lined inside:

Unfolded back:

3  Not So Cutesy Denim Diaper Bag in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by carmencrafter on: July 19, 2009 03:32:18 PM
Calling all Crafty Divas out there, I would like to introduce you to the Not So Cutesy Denim Diaper Bag!!

I'm currently financially challenged and I wanted to bring something to my friend's baby shower, so I decided to make a diaper bag.  I didn't want it to be baby-themed and look like a diaper bag, so I used striped denim and hot pink fabric (I hope she likes pink  Wink)  I'm really proud of the result.  Check it out...

The front has a zippered pocket and a pink metal zipper pull:

The back has a pocket:

Side view:

The inside with elasticized pockets and key holder:

Closeup:

I hope she likes it.  Tell me what you think.

4  Knife- Pleated denim clutch with buttons in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by carmencrafter on: July 13, 2009 08:04:56 AM
I would like to introduce you to my new obsession.... Knife pleats!!  I decided to knife pleat a piece of denim and somehow it evolved into a foldover clutch.  I sewed down the pleats so they wouldn't gape open.  I'm so proud of this baby and can't wait to carry it.  Here it is.

Here is the front unfolded...

And the unfolded back...

I self-lined it on the inside...

I was going to put a pretty crystal brooch/pin on the front for embellishment, but sometimes those pins come open and you can lose/damage the brooch, so I used buttons instead.  I attacked my button stash and found these green buttons and sewed them on instead.

Do you like my bag??

5  Pleated linen pillow in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by carmencrafter on: July 12, 2009 11:30:34 AM
I needed a new pillow for my couch, so I decided to make one.  I didn't want to use expensive fabric and mess it up, so I used some pale yellow linen for the practice run.  It has 1 inch pleats.  I'm so proud of it that I'm going to use it instead of making one out of "nicer" fabric.  I think next time I will try to make one with smaller pleats.  Tell me what you think...

7  I made my first stitch-bound journal in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by carmencrafter on: May 30, 2009 03:31:05 PM
I just completed my first handmade journal and I'm so excited!!

I used stitch-binding and organic handmade papers on the cover.  I also made a tasseled page-marker

I plan on making some more in the future, but I want to use "fancy" paper on the inside instead of the plain white pages I used here.  I think I may add something else to the cover on this one, but I'm not sure what yet...  Let me know what you think of my journal.

8  Smoky Quartz Drawstring Bracelet in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by carmencrafter on: May 20, 2009 03:32:14 PM
I really really really love smoky quartz.  I decided to make a bracelet made completely out of sterling silver pendants and other findings from pieces of old broken jewelry.  I'm really proud of the result. Let me know what you think.

I used a sterling silver "drawstring" barrel clasp in the back which makes it adjustable.

What do you do when it's cold and raining in the middle of May (Huh? I had to turn the heat on last night???!!!!).
You pull out your bead collection and get crafting!!!
I present my newest bead creations -- 2 beaded necklaces with large medallion pendants.

The pendants are 2 plus inches wide.

I used amethyst and peridot beads on this one.

This one is made with different shades of quartz crystal beads.

10  Chandelier Quartz Crystal Beaded Lariat Necklace in Beads: Completed Projects by carmencrafter on: May 19, 2009 11:35:51 AM
I love things that sparkle and shine, so I was in love when I found these quartz crystal pendants at the bead store.  They look like something you would find on a chandelier.  I created a lariat-style necklace that I absolutely love  Kiss

It's one long strand of beads with one of the pendants on each end.  I just tie it around my neck and let the pendants dangle.  I used quartz beads of different shapes and lots of sterling silver beads mixed in.  I hope you like it!
