1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / AB High Street Messenger Bag Question... on: March 27, 2011 02:15:06 PM
How difficult is it to tackle? I am a beginner reaching intermediate Grin Just wanted to know what I am getting myself into before I start. Just wanted to see what my crafter buddies had to say (I lurk a lot). Thanks again, now back to my lurking closet....

2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Who is on your "To Sew For" Christmas list? on: October 17, 2009 05:43:14 PM
Sad, but true I am making my list and checking it twice already. This year I am sewing a majority of Christmas presents and I am actually merry about it. Here is my list and I would love to hear what is on yours. Maybe we swap ideas and support each other when it is Christmas Eve and we still have gifts to finish  Grin

Nephews on my DH's side - Either bean bags with the spelling of each letter on a different bean bag (5 nephews = 24 bean bags) -or- a road map so they can play "cars" on the floor. Here is a link of the idea behind the playmat...

My MIL - She is antique dealer with my FIL and she asked my opinion on sewing a travel bag for when she goes on the road hunting antiques. Still in the process of sketching. She wants a lot of pockets and zippers. That should be fun  Undecided Maybe I won't holly jolly with that project.

My SILs, 2 of them - I am making each of them a tote, more like a diaper bag, but revamping to be a mommy bag. More pockets and a clip for keys.

For one of my aunts - A shabby chic inspired quilt. Her house is a bungalow near the Atlantic and she loves shabby chic!!

That is all so far. I Have a ton more family to get gifts for and I am just getting started with my list. Better get sewing!!!

3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Good interface for sewing bags? on: September 02, 2009 07:44:39 PM
Not sure if this goes here or in the other forum  Huh

Which interface works well with cotton if I want to make purses? I have been using the craftfuse and boy those bags turn out stiff. Woo-wee!

Thanks gals/guys Smiley
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / The Bucket Bag! on: August 30, 2009 08:53:08 PM
My first post on here for a completed project =) Yay!

Made from the Lotus line by Amy Butler, I present the Bucket bag...This Bag is lined, has gussetts on the bottom to make it "bucketish" (LOL!), has a magnetic closure, stabilized with Pellon Craftfuse, and the handle is double backtar stitched for heaving duty toting.

I think next time I will use a less stiffer lining and also use Timtex to stablize the bottom better. Comments and complaints please!

This is my prototype for the ones I am getting ready to make for my etsy store  Grin

5  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Quilts with out binding? What to call them?! on: August 27, 2009 10:29:47 AM
I have been making these baby play quilts to sell, except I do not bind them (I really suck at it!) So what the heck do I call them?  Huh

Basically I piece the top, make a backwards quilt sandwich, turn it, and do a blanket stitch around the edges.

6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Every thing I sew...Stinks! on: March 24, 2009 01:54:43 PM
BLAH!!!! I swear everything I sew stinks! I have been sewing since January and with a 9 month old crawling and almost walking it makes it so difficult to get uninterupted sew time.

How long has everyone been sewing for and how long does it take to be a "good" sewer. I LOVE sewing, but I just feel like I stink at it at the moment. Maybe it is a fluke in time, but I am getting so frustrated!!!!  Angry

Sorry for my rant and thanks for listening  Smiley
