Teag, I'd always wondered what the secret of perfect housekeeping was. I have to get me some pearls.  Cheesy

The cover, believe it or not is cardboard from  a cereal box, a paper napkin, some mod podge and paint very easy and very inexpensive to do.

I liked the journal cover and this comment sent me back to look at it again; I wouldn't have guessed how you'd made it.

From the thumbnail, I thought you'd depicted an anime character I didn't recognize, but this is better. Living in a state whose summers have been described as "a hundred days at a hundred degrees and a hundred percent humidity", I understand the concept of an angry sun. Shade is friendly, not the sun.

Congratulations, Gryffindor.

I don't think I mentioned how much I liked the racing brooms in the trophy case.

Teag, I like all of those, but the expression on the manatee's face is the sweetest and best.

House: Ravenclaw

I was thinking about a Chudley Cannons shirt, but then I decided to show my support for an American team: Texas' own Sweetwater All-Stars, mentioned in Quidditch Through the Ages as a team that has broken through to international level play.

One of my microwave corn bags had no case and this is a pillowcase for it. I was working with some pretty narrow scraps, but I think it came out okay; those chalk marks where I spaced out the lettering will come off in the wash. Here's the picture of the back, along with a Ravenclaw cellphone case I crocheted last night (rather tight on my phone, unfortunately).

Go Ravens!

I've been catching up on the thread. There's so much cool stuff it's hard to keep track of!

Avesthel, I thought your shawl pin was copper until I read your description. I like it a lot.

Pinkleo, your paw print shirt is really cute and I love the fiery, phoenix-like effect of the yarn in your Gryffindor slippers.

Lightninglisa, I'll bet those snitches look great on your Christmas tree this year.

Aliis, broomstick pasta deserves some kind of creativity prize. Or a patience prize for making all those thin cuts and having to roll up the dough after.

I'm afraid I'm a poor Quidditch player, but I gave it a go anyway.

~*Beater (20 pts): Don't get beat by something new, try a new-to-you technique or material.

I needed a new belt and it's hard to find women's belts that I like, that fit, and that aren't totally shoddy. I've been meaning to sew a simple D-ring belt all summer, but when the Beater challenge came up I decided to try making version of the Tunisian crochet belt that I saw on the program Knit and Crochet Today. It was my first time trying Tunisian crochet (aka Afghan stitch and a few other names), and, although there were a couple of false starts, it was fun to do. I like the grid-like texture it makes on the right side. I enjoyed making it so much I made my belt a good seven inches too long and had to unravel!

~*Seeker (20pts): Get the Snitch or die trying.  Craft something with a snitch

Not sure what to do, I decided to do something I hadn't done in a few years: play with Shrinky Dinks. I'd never used the Crystal Clear Shrinky Dinks at all, only the classic Frosted kind, so I just experimented a little with markers and a touch of acrylic paint and made some Snitch charms.

~*Broomstick (20pts): What would quidditch be without a broom?  Craft an item featuring a broom or inspired by your favorite broomstick.

More SD charms. As you can see, these aren't sleek racing brooms. I went more for the family broomstick; the darker one especially seems designed to cater to the ample-bottomed witch or wizard. The little one is obviously a toy broomstick.   Cheesy

[ETA my house name.]

House: Ravenclaw
~*Chaser (20pts): Craft something red, like a quaffle.

I never could get the hang of any Muggle sports as a child, but here's my try at being a Quidditch Chaser:

A bit of serendipity here. I recently found a broken earring someone had lost with a bunch of little lightning bolt charms on it. Unless I come across some tiny bottles ("capture lightning in a bottle"), I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the rest.

Class (or House Pride Item): House Unity
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Hufflepuff Joins the Rest

This may be the teensiest bit dorky, but years ago, before the final book, I made "scarf" bookmarks for each of my Harry Potter books. Mostly Gryffindor, but the other houses got one each, except for Huflepuff. No slight intended: I admire the Hufflepuff spirit of We'll take everybody who is willing to do the work; I just didn't have any black thread and was waiting for some to turn up in the thrift store. I eventually gave up and bought some new and now, inspired by this craftalong, Hufflepuff finally joins the other houses.

The Huff marker will live in The Goblet of Fire, the only book with a major character from Hufflepuff.

And I figured as long as I had the thread out, I'd make some more. I'm always losing bookmarks (other than these HP ones) and one was intended to become my portkey on a nearby Muggle campus (cleverly disguised as a lost bookmark in their school colors) if life and poor planning hadn't intervened.

Wow! I haven't visited in almost a week and a half and there's an explosion of all these great projects, new people, and quidditch. I need to get busy; this undercover muggle life (job, etc.) is sapping my crafting energy.
