292  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Re: tie dye. could it be an addiction? on: April 26, 2005 10:49:21 AM
As a former "hippie"  Grin I have tie dyed just about everything. From my experience the higher the cotton content the better the dye adheres and it stays brighter longer. My husband ( he was a "deadhead") and I actually got married in tie dye shirts and jeans. I had already done traditional and we didn't want the fuss/expense. Our friends all loved it, but my parents were in shock.Still makes me smile.... Wink

Wall hanging, done 10 or so years ago...washed regularly

293  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Awesome Hot Fudge Sundae Cake in the CrockPot on: April 26, 2005 10:39:45 AM
I used to make this all the time to take to pot lucks. After the first one people would say "You are going to make that cake thing in the crock pot, right". Then we moved and I haven't even thought about it in years. Now I want one....  Grin. My brother and sis-in-law are coming here this weekend so guess what desert will be!!!!!

Bless your heart!  Hope the day's cleaning was productive (and bathing the dog wasn't one of the chores!) and that you actually got to do some crafting after all.

The poor dog... Grin . She is always wearing glitter, or glue, or paint. She follows me around everywhere and lays on the floor at my feet when I am crafting. My hubby refers to her as a work in progress. She doesn't seem to mind, as long as she gets scratched often.

I am still finding glitter all through the house Embarrassed

297  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: i have a ton of copper-plated welding wire on: April 25, 2005 12:20:55 PM
You could wind it around vases, or flower pots, or desk accessories...anyth ing really. Maybe string some beads on it as you go. You could make a wind chime...long pieces of wire and beads, or something woven in...with the top being a braid of wire. You could sculpt into 2 dimensional shapes to embellish with, or 3 dimensional to create a statue...
298  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / unintentional redecorating on: April 24, 2005 09:33:51 PM
I'm an insomniac...so i craft, or play on the computer after everyone is asleep. Tonight i spilled gold glitter, in front of the fan...glitter everywhere. Can't vacuum because I don't want to wake anytone. OK, forget the glitter, move on to something else. Get out the Beadies (very tiny beads with out holes) spill them, and in an effort to try and pick them up, forget that the lid isn't on the E6000 glue, dropped it too...stepped on it. Gave up and got on computer. Think I may be safer here. It looks like I'll be busy cleaning instead of crafting tomorrow.

300  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: baby gift for ex-Phishheads on: April 22, 2005 12:46:39 PM
I made a tie dye blanket for my brother and sister-in-law. I used 100% cotton flannel, folded accordion style and dyed in strips. It worked great. The colors were really bright and vibrant. My nephew is now 7 and the blanket still is on the bottom of his bed.
