1  All About Christmas Book in Winter Holidays by mehashell on: January 08, 2011 03:00:45 AM
I made this book for my niece, it was her first Christmas this year!
I started out with an idea to make a multi-textured, bright, and soft book for her... I then decided on Christmas themed because all of the Christmas fabric was on sale at my craft shop Tongue
I designed it myself, and did not have any patterns, I just sort of made it up as I went along (I did you some clip art for inspiration, the reindeer for one).
Each page has at least a few different textures, some have things you can pull at, jingle, crinkle, and of course soft fluffy things. Then I put thin batting and plain green as the other part of the pages.
This took sooooo much longer than I planned, but it was worth it.
The final product was about 8x11 and 4 inches thick Smiley
Hope you like it.

2  Mr. Greedy in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by mehashell on: November 21, 2009 02:32:22 PM

Yay!
I made this for my BF's brother for his birthday.
I am super proud of it because it was my first project that was completely my own pattern. I usually modify patterns, but for this guy I had to make it all up.
Now, everyone wants one- but a different Mr. Men or Little Miss of course. So I guess I know what my next few projects will be.
His eyes and mouth were the only hard bit- the pinky/purple yearn was really tough to stitch through - suggestions anyone?
Comments/Constructive Critiques welcome

A cute little mouse for Xmas!
He was super quick, I think I will make a few to pop into the Christmas packages that I need to send to family and friends.

4  Purple Flower Hat in Crochet: Completed Projects by mehashell on: November 19, 2009 05:31:37 PM
Baby hat for a friend's baby. I embroidered the flower on the side, which I am really happy with.
I think I will add two more flowers (of different heights/colors), but I'm not sure - what do you think?

I made this heart hat and bootie set for my cousin's baby-to-come Smiley
Her name is Amelia, and my cheeky boyfriend has decided to call her Amelia Earheart because of this hat.

6  Cards Cards Cards in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by mehashell on: November 19, 2009 05:01:32 PM
I've made a few cards recently, and here they are!

Birthday card - modeled after a card from a book I have

Close up of the cake - this part was of my own design - I love topsy-turvy cakes Smiley

30th b-day card - my own design

Housewarming card - also modeled on one from the book (altered a bit of course) - the window has cellophane in it (the inside says home is where the heart is)

8  Not and Evil Owl - My first Embroidery in Needlework: Completed Projects by mehashell on: September 02, 2009 08:45:27 PM
Alright, after much looking and ooing and awing I just had to give emroidery a try. I sew occasionally, do free-hand stitching on cards and other paper crafts, but I have never done an embroidery project before
kittykill- your "little birds" post was the one that pushed me over the edge- so cute. I borrowed the look of your branch, but stitched an owl instead. Thanks for the inspiration!

So, here it is:

I just drew the image I wanted onto the material, I didn't have a pattern (except the branch was totally modeled after kittykill's bird branch). For some reason the brown thread came out reddish in the photo, so the owl's eyes look a little evil, but don't worry- he is a nice owl Smiley

9  Baby Boom in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by mehashell on: September 02, 2009 08:35:27 PM
There is a serious baby boom in my circle of family and friends, so I am making baby gifts and cards like crazy. Here is the latest card:

I used all scraps from my massive paper scrap collection, and the ric-rac is vintage from my great grandma's stash I acquired a few years ago Smiley

It went to my cousin who also received this crochet baby hat and booties set (well actually, fingers crossed that it made it from Australia to San Diego)!!!!

10  Holiday Penguin in Winter Holidays by mehashell on: August 16, 2009 08:07:35 PM
I posted this in crochet, but I thought it would be better in holidays since it is a Christmas-y penguin! I used the pattern from the lion brand yarn site (with minor tweaking here and there), it was really easy and quick.
He is going off to the UK in a month or so for my boyfriend's mom's birthday (she loved the little penguins when she visited us here in Tassie.
Hope you like him!
