1  Flower Pen Bouquet in Completed Projects by MissFae on: April 25, 2009 03:18:05 PM
Ok, this idea is stolen from a teacher my Mom sub'd for. I also noticed one Craftster in here did something similar for her wedding. (noticed when I was looking for where to post this)

The story behind it is that my son, Tarok was in intensive care at our local children's hospital this Wednesday to Thursday. (just got home, he is doing much better) One of the nurses was talking to an other nurse about how pens around there seem to grow legs and walk away. In any other profession, pens are a business expense. They're either a tax write-off for the owners or paid for by the company for employee use. Nurses have to buy their own pens. They need decent ones as they are legally required to write volumes upon volumes of notes. If someone doesn't have a pen handy, they will often "borrow one" and absent-mindedly (I hope) walk away with it. So, I was reminded of something my Mom told be about a teacher who had a tin bucket full of pencils with fake flowers secured to the tops with florist's tape. This keeps them from fitting in people's pockets without them realizing what they are doing. As far as the malicious ones go...well, they will have a sticky pen when they take the florist's tape off. Muahahaha! :p

Ok, so, we spent a lot of money on this to get decent pens and just the right flowers, plus the scissors and a nice planter for them. They came out looking a bit like potted mums. Just lovely, bright, great for a children's ward and the nurses at both units (PICU and the regular ward that had T for a day) were delighted. I'm tempted to do one more up for the nurses in emergency as well.

Here's how they turned out. (We had to actually tell them they were pens because they didn't notice :p)
