1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Mermaid Bedroom- Under the Sea on: May 25, 2009 02:50:20 AM
When we moved I really wanted to my my DD's bedroom something really special for her.  I did the wash & sunset one night & the rest the next.  Drawing & painting isn't something I do, but I figured it it looked horrid it was just paint & the room needed painted anyway.   I loved the way it turned out and I did all the painting free-hand with acrylic paints, and am really proud of the results.

Love this little guy!

I'll post more close-ups of the critters later.

If you have any ideas for the entry it opens into the dining area and as a result the table gets all sorts of crap covering it I would love suggestions.  Right now I have a bench  & coat rack but one catches shoes & the other coats and always looks sloppy.

On HGTV they made chalkboard paint out of regular latex & unsanded grout.  I can't remember the proportions but I bet it could be found.  I think it was 3 TBSP grout but I can't remember if that was for a cup, quart, or gallon of paint.

What an extraordinary save.  With something like that, and the ability to keep it organized (something I personally am lacking) you could have any room be a craft room.

What a great idea.  Think it would work in a bathroom?

Love the color!  The black really sets it off.  My sewing room is a similar shade (it's unfortunately used for storage at the moment)  I was thinking white accents but white & black are now a must.

My original kitchen was very dated, really ugly bright yellow with bad paneling & a bank cupboards above the stove.  Oh not to mention the 2 different types of sitck-on vinyl tiles. The dryer was where the portable dishwasher is now, next to the sink near the back door.  The the dishwasher & washer were stuck in a little cubby with about a 1ft space in front.  The new stackable w/d are the cubby space now but oriented out to allow a little room to actually open the doors.   Thanks to a burst pipe last winter, I got new floors a new fridge & w/d.  The insurance company covered installation so I used the extra money to upgrade the floor to perg0 & move the venting for the dryer & move the cupboard from above the sink over, and most importantly paint.  I love the way it turned out.
