21  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Flowery leaving card on: March 21, 2010 01:47:57 PM

I made this card this morning for a lady who's last day of work is tomorrow.  I made someone a birthday card the other week so I think I've now been made the card lady of my work!

To be fair there was more needlework than papercraft to it but there you go.

Hopefully she'll like it.
22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My Fascinators (and tassells) on: March 01, 2010 04:03:33 PM
So, I made this fascinator about a year ago (I don't know why it's taken me so long to post it).

It's just thick ribbon double sided taped onto a fascinator base, and some netting and butterfly attached this was my first attempt at a fascinator.

Then I finally bought my own glue gun and there was no stopping me!  I made both of these fascinators for a burlesque class performance...and 'cos I was gettin' nifty on the ol' glue gun I made nipple tassels to accessorize it up a bit...the green tassells where also made from the same fabric my little sister made my underbust corset with for the same night.

23  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Jazzed Up Teapot Cabinet on: March 01, 2010 03:38:02 PM
So, at christmas me and my friend decided to just make each other presents, she made me an amazing quilt and I did this....

I bought a wall cabinet thing (sorry, I don't even know what they're called) on ebay.

And I nitro mors'd the life out of it to strip it down

And then I painted it with a tiny Laura Ashley matchpot (I knew she liked the colour already 'cos she'd painted other things in her flat that colour), after that I cut down free samples of Cath Kidston wallpaper and glued and varnished a rectangle on each of the drawers (I had to take the handles off and stick them back on after).

It's not the best picture but I really loved how it turned out and I was actually sad to give it away.  To buy similar styles it would cost about 100 so I really managed to do this for so much less.

She did love it though and when I get my Dream Home I'll make one for myself!  Wink
24  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / The joy of unemployment...imagy on: July 01, 2009 03:54:16 PM
So, I recently lost my job (damn credit crunch) and to keep myself sane I decided to make my very first quilt.  I don't really know how to make a quilt and I'm working it out as I go along but what I am doing is just sewing some patches and one day I'll have a lovely big quilt (to hide under and watch loads of daytime TV 'cos I probably still wont have a job).   Smiley

I've only really started embroidery so my stitches are still a bit all over the place but I think I'm getting better, I'm getting quicker anyway.

This one was a beast and it took me for forever (even carted it up to Oban with me on a weekend away), it's meant to be me me and two of my friends...the pattern came from Bust...I quite like how it turned out though.

Any comments/tips/ideas would be greatly recieved!  I'm going to London this weekend so I have four and a half hours each way on the train to sew my heart out.

I mooched most of the patterns from other places or at least the ideas and just changed them a bit to suit me.
25  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / My 1st Embroidery Ever on: March 18, 2009 06:44:40 AM

this is my first project I've posted and my 1st ever piece of embroidery I've done (so please be gentle).

I decorated this pillowcase for my friend who is going away in the summer as part of her degree to work with women in Sierra Leone who've suffered from obstetric fistulas.  It's a bit of a random gift, I know.

The pattern is from Sublime Stitching Vital Organs - someone else has done an amazing thong with one on which inspired me.

Anyway...I'm hooked on the embroidery...I just need to find more people I can make things for...(",)
